Slomoslam Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Nothing special, other than the wiring, and some plumbing, it's pretty much OOB. These are great kits, if I were trapped on a desert island and could only eat one plastic model the rest of my life...
Slomoslam Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 Thanks Ray, I appreciate it. Harry if typos are going to be an issue let me know, I might be in the wrong place!
rmvw guy Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Looks better than mine. Please don't eat it!
Ramfins59 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Nice model Steve, love the color. I have one of these in my stash but haven't built it yet.
High octane Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Glad to see another Willys model posted Sam, as I'm a huge "gasser" fan and I've already got five Willys kits built and another one started.
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Nope. Your post heading is wrong Steve. Not due to spelling errors. I've never built one! I'm not a hot rod guy, but you did a very nice job as far as I can see. Steve
Slomoslam Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 I guess I spoke out of school! I'm sure a lot of folks will agree(notice how I toned down my rhetoric) that this kit goes together really well, no surprises, crisp edges, etc, etc. I've built several of these, if you are going to build just one hot rod, Steve, make it this one. Just ask Nick!
68shortfleet Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Looking good Steve. I too really like the Revell Willys kit. I have only built one(modern tool) kit so far, but have at least four more in the stash of kits. I do want to try my hand at and old(opening door) kit again sometime though.
fseva Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Not "Willy." Willys. I'm still confused about how it's actually supposed to be pronounced!
D. Battista Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I'm still confused about how it's actually supposed to be pronounced! This might help ya out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willys
Jon Cole Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I'm still confused about how it's actually supposed to be pronounced! Like this:
fseva Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 This might help ya out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willys Like this: I also checked Wikipedia, Dave, and I'm still confused about how to handle the "s" at the end - Wikipedia made it seem like it should be soft, as in "is" your mama callin' you? Or is the "s" hard, as in the photo above, and the word "s"nake?
D. Battista Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Dave, and I'm still confused about how to handle the "s" at the end Like kiss drop the k put Will in front Will - iss Willis... hope this helps better.... but it is spelled with a Y...
misterNNL Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I remember driving north on interstate 75 through Detroit and passing the huge original factory brick smoke stack with the WILLYS painted on it in white letters.
Slomoslam Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 Here's another, with extra dust. Only 1 pic? Sure looks SHINY
vintagedragcrazy Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Who cares about a little dust that's just plain nice beautiful willysvince
junkyardjeff Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Its been over 40 years since I last built one and I think its time to build one again.
Canso65 Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I must have about 10 of these in my stash but I haven't built one yet.I sure do like what you have done with yours though.Nice job Steve.Rob
