So, correct me if I misunderstood this, but the new release won't come with a set of stock fenders for the roadster body?

Yes, both the shock fenders and the modified Ala-Kart fenders will be in kit.

It should.. Every Old version of this kit has had a set of stock fenders. It would be very odd to take them out of the mold now. I think what was said was that you will be able to build the Fenderless Roadster in a the 1920's Hopped Up style, as shown by the Yellow car on the boxart.

You know, I was just thinking. If they had added in the few missing Ala-Kart pieces, I would for sure be buying two of these kits. With the one I will be buying, I plan on building a stock Model A and the Mod Rod. Even though I'm not a big Ala-Kart fan, I would be willing to build one, along with a fenderless 20's hopped up version too. I really like that 1920's fenderless version shown along with the Mod Rod in side box art. Maybe I'll skip the stock version. And build the 20's fenderless version and the Mod Rod together instead. Man, I want a stock version. A 1920's fenderless version. And the Mod Rod. And I would be willing to build the Ala-Kart if all of the parts were there. Darn. I hate to buy two kits to get only three cars. What to do......?

A question about part of this kit. What color were the blocks painted from the factory, in case of the Dodge Red Ram engines? My first guess would be red. But, something tells me I may not be correct on that.

Silver or red is what I've seen in unrestored cars, apparently depending on year of manufacture. :)

Or try this...

All early V8 double-single rocker shaft engines, 1951-1960, silver with black accessories.
Except - All early hi-performance engines 1955-1960, silver with black accessories, gold valve covers, gold air cleaners, Plymouth Fury, Chrysler 300, Dsoto Adventurer, Dodge d-500.
Except - 1955-1956 Plymouth 241-260-270 cu. in. V8, silver with black accessories, red valve covers, yellow air cleaner (hi-fire engine).

Round2 had a test shot on display at NNL East. Anybody get photos?

I snagged this one off of that other message board, from Chuck Rehbergers post, but it's cropped a little high. Sure do like the box art graphics for the 57 Vette!

The answer (or rather Non-Answer) to your question, Dave, may prove something about how the "lunatic fringe" is going to view this kit.

Klever kollectors koncur that it's not kwite a komprehensive kompendium of Ala Kart, klearly.

I know that I may be in the market for only one, and that is provided I can use a 40% off coupon to get it. Otherwise no sale.

The "Restored" parts will make no big difference to me, and the Checkerbox Wal-Mart Wonder kit, I bought back in the day has nearly the same contents. So, Despite the Kats at AMT crowing about what a big deal this is, colour me, not impressed.  New Tires, Some Re-tooled (but to ME needless) suspension parts, and an expanded decal sheet, will not offset the lack of a complete Ala-Kart  parts restoration.  I consider this a rare "Swing & a Miss" from the Kats.

I want this kit for some odd reason, even though I have NO interest in a stock, full-fendered A roadster and I consider the coil spring suspension on the custom frame to be weird and ugly.

But I just figured out what to do with it. Gonna put that frame under the Revell '29 full cab pickup body. It would look just about right semi-hiding under the fenders of a truck! B)

I agree on some of the points, but I can see even from that half a photo that there are quite a bit more of the old AK parts back in the fold than there was previously. Plus some of those parts will be chrome again for the first time in decades That said, the original Ala Kart does really need to be restored, and I wouldn't be a bit heartbroken if they scrapped the crude and inaccurate new tool to help pay for it.

In preparation for this up coming release, I went on eBay today and bought the last reissue of this kit. With that one I'll be building a stock A. With the Mod Rod kit when it comes out, I'll be building the Mod Rod itself, with fenders. And the fenderless late 20's - 1930's race version.
