slammedi'am Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Just finished this one up... Just a fun stress free build...Used suspension parts from the 55 F100 kit and kit wheels/caps in Pegasus sleeves
Olskoolrodder Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 LOVE it,Shane (been watching it come together on FB and "Liking" it there too),one of my favorites done of this kit to date, nicely done
crazyjim Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Looks like a Gas Monkey build where they spray clear over the patina. Pretty cool.
Maindrian Pace Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Love it, any shop would be proud to have that truck. Great stance, wheel/tire package, weathering, everything.
mikemodeler Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Looks great, like the weathering and the stance is just right. Question though: Is it just me or are the mirrors slightly oversized in this kit?
Chuck Most Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Very cool! As I was scrolling through the pics I swore I could hear Richard Rawlings letting out one of his characteristic yelps.
lghtngyello03 Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) Love the build! Patina is perfect on this truck. What method did you use to sand off the paint after you shot your primer, then color? What was your base color? How did you get the decals to be worn in areas as well? Also where'd you get the decals from? I have a 50 5 window Chevy truck that I'd like to do as a patina'd GM High Performance shop truck. Edited February 5, 2016 by lghtngyello03
665@213 Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Man that looks good! Perfect stance. How did you swap the 55 f100 suspension on the frame if you don't mind me asking? Got any pics?

Got any pics? Thanks! I dont have any pics of the suspension... I used some Nascar springs and cut everything off the front except for the control arms & spindles.. The rear suspension pretty much set in place..I normally use the whole front suspension from a Nascar kit but didnt want to on this oneLove the build! Patina is perfect on this truck. I start off with red Krylon primer then choice of satin/flat color from Krylon..I sand thru until I get the look Iam wanting..Then I take a make up sponge and dab (almost dry brushing) the spots I sanded thru with burnt sienna and burnt umber (light to dark color)... For decals,I lightly sand then (before dipping in water) until I achieve the faded look (dont go to much cause some decals will fall apart in the water) After decals are done,I use the burnt umber and dab over the decal to dirty it up a lil bit more.. Once I do the bmf and everything is done,I use matte clear from Duplicolor to seal it all Decals was from the kit Edited February 7, 2016 by slammedi'am
