KJ790 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Calling this one close enough to done. This is my first glue-bomb rebuild ever. This was the first model that I ever built, and I was never quite happy with it. So a couple weeks ago I tore it down, repainted everything, added new wheels, tires, scratch-built exhaust and intake, and a 3D printed grille.I'm still not happy with a few things, but it will do for now.
Mike77 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Looks good to me KJ! Anytime you can breathe new life into and old build is good thing.
Eloveless Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 I am new to hobby. I have seen glue bomb, what is that? If you do a redo, do you sand the old paint and glue off? What's the process of starting over? Thanks. Big rig looks good.

Typically they have excessive amounts of glue everywhere, but commonly have poor paint, missing or broken part's, etc. This truck was the first model I ever built and I did not have very good modelling skills at the time. Since then it had handled a lot and started falling apart. So I broke all of the glued pieces apart, stripped the paint with oven cleaner, and started over. Thanks!
1959scudetto Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Very much appreciated, KJ - it definitely has "the look" !
gatorincebu Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 KJ, Now that looks really good. Though I am sure we all would like to see more pictures of the model !! :-) Your grill looks great. Be Well Gator
towman1271 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 What's not to be happy about.. She looks amazing-great job
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 That is a sharp looking truck KJ! One problem though; I want to see more of it!
The Modeling Hermit Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Dave is right. There's nothing to not be happy with. It looks wonderful.
purepmd Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 KJ, another home run! I really like your builds. They have really made me appreciate type of trucks you like to replicate. They have an air of toughness no chromed out Beauty Queen can ever bring to the table. I am even considering a build along these lines, spoke drive wheels and all. Never thought That would happen, but your work is that influential. Outstanding work.
OlSchoolRedo Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Really good looking restoration, but don't be stingy, how about some more pics please.
GearUpJammer Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Great looking truck,I agree with seeing some more pics also!
Canso65 Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Great rebuild KJ.I bet it is fun rebuilding a model you built many years ago.
DumpyDan Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Looks good, I was driving down the 401 yesterday towards Toronto and saw a early 70's Peterbilt hauling logs this reminds me of that. Very cool
SpreadAxle Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 It feels good to still have your first build. Great job on the rebuild.
