Wow, . . Brad!  Did you have a motor in mind

yet to slide into that build ?

That's so low that you will leave splinters on

the ground when you drive it!!

    I'm loving it,

I like the stance, it's not unrealistically low.  It actually looks drivable.

I agree 100%!!  cant stand the "dropped in the grass" unrealistic look, or the tyres and wheels so big I cant turn let alone fit an engine in it look either. Great job!!

x 2. Low enough to be low, but not so low that it can't be driven on decent roads.  Me likey.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!  I tend to build my models as if they were something I would drive 1:1.  Thus, some of the mods I do are referenced from magazines.  If you look at the new scratch built motor mounts, you'll notice they're for a flathead.  ;)

im not super detailed like a lot of the others here on this forum, so I usually won't include brake lines, fuel lines, throttle linkage, etc........building w/ that much attention to detail is hard enough 1:1, I just build car models to relax.

Rob, I have over 24 car models in various stages of construction, in various boxes, I will no doubt find them one day.  But in the meantime, I'll mess w/ this one.

That is my approach too.

As a matter of fact, I have a similar project on my bench now, except I chopped the roof off of mine together with leaving the fenders off. It will be different style from yours, because I am not a fan of that super channeled look and extremely z-ed frame. I always attempt to make my rods sit super low while maintaining the flowing frame .

there should be a new class at contests called: "unrealistic and silly", for all the builds that could never really BE. IMO, the unrealistic builds should NEVER be judged against the REALISTICS.

With risk to be shunned from the forum, there are quite few "big winners" at GSLs and NNLs which received great praise and coverage that should not been chosen on ugliness factor alone, before we even get to the 20 inch A-pillars, unrealistic angles etc., etc…….Just in my own personal opinion, models should be judged on more things than just the sum of their parts.

Beautiful scratchbuilding!  Got any tips for assembling stuff like that trans tunnel from sheet?  Do you leave tabs for the seperate pieces to glue to, or fold them and use less pieces?  I'd love to hear more about how you did those

James, the trans tunnel is outlined on the floor.  I then take measurements and draw the pieces on index card. I cut out the pieces from the index card and see how they fit on the model. Once any adjustments are made, I then transfer those measurements to the sheet styrene and cut it out. And further adjustments are handled, and the pieces are glued together.

X2. Looks to be well thought-out and measured. I'm a critical SOB when it comes to models looking like they could actually work in reality, and what you've got here looks great. :D

I like your line of '32s too.

Thank you Bill.

Once the trans tunnel is fab'd for the 5w, I'm going to fab both rear suspensions at the same time.

I did did fit the rear bulkhead over the trans tunnel on the stock body Speedwagon, and the firewall is ready to be fitted also.  I'll post pics once I take them.
