This is my 49 Ford, one of my all time favorite cars. Something about that grill gets me every time. Cut up all the 49 mercury's you want but I don't think the Ford can be improved on. This is Japanese Navy grey-green, I added a Mexican blanket seat cover and painted the flathead green instead of blue to look like the 110 horse mercury engine was added. Also I like the looks of a green flathead.

This is another one that the battery is sitting on my bench waiting to be detailed. If I remember right, the kit came with a 12 volt battery and I wanted to put a 6 volt battery in it. Someday I will get around to correcting it. Also, the trunk latch went flying off my tweezers into a black hole in a corner of my garage so until I get another one of these and a trans-kit to do a panel delivery it's just going to be missing.

Really nice model and one of my favorite cars and kits...How did you make the blanket ..

I followed Ken Hamiltons how to found here. For some reason it won't let me copy the url here but if you search Mexican blanket at the top of the page the first search result should be a link to his how to in Fotki.

Nice looking Ford Mark!

I haven't built one of these '49s in many years!

I think I should build one! :)

The paint is gorgeous!

Almost too shiny for a '49. :P

Steve

I agree with you on it being too shiny for a 49, I usually don't polish them out like this as I tend to lean towards factory looking paint but with the narrow white walls and slight rake I was going for a more modern retro look rather than an actual retro look. I debated between polished or dull coat for a matte finish but shiny usually wins out for me.
