Harry P. Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 For the past several months I have had zero interest in building. Just wasn't motivated to do it. Then the other day, while browsing around the internet and ebay, I came across these two kits. After doing a google search and looking at some photos of both kits, I knew I had to have them. The level of detail is just amazing... just the way I like my kits... the more parts, the better! Ordered them both yesterday and can't wait to get my hands on them. I think my motivation is back!
SfanGoch Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Nice. Oodles of detail to keep those creative juices flowing.
Harry P. Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 Yes! On the Mefistofele the chains build up link by link... just like a real chain. That's the kind of detail I love.
Harry P. Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 Kevin, I am psyched! After seeing photos of these two models online, I am about as excited about starting a new project as I've ever been. The only downside is that they're "only" 1/12 scale and not 1/8... but I'll take them!
cobraman Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 That is very good news. Those look like cool kits. I'm sure that with all the improvements you normally do these may take you awhile. Looking forward to following along.
Harry P. Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 Ray, I plan on doing a full-blown WIP on both. I know the subject matter doesn't interest most of the members here, but maybe I can show some tricks and techniques that apply to any model kit.

I'm glad you found something new and exciting to get you pumped and building....they sure look like beautiful kits for sure...wish I could get that mojo back like you have, Harry,,,,I have 4 kits half built and am happy with them, but can't seem to just sit down and actually do the real work....I'm buying more and more, yet building less and less...lol....the Ace.....
Foxer Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 well, this is my kind of car, so I'll be sitting here watching. These are both awesome looking vehicles.

I must confess that I routinely dismiss about 85% of what I see here as being completely irrelevant to my interests, but a well done model, of any subject matter, is always a plus.
Joe Handley Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Just saw this video Harry, at one time that beast held the speed record of 146mph, over 100 years ago
Harry P. Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 Yep, that car was a monster back in its day.

Harry P. Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 I did a price search and found the best price on Hobbylinc.com. Got the Grand Prix for $148 and the Mefistofele for $169... both way below MSRP. And shipping was only 9 bucks! Plus no sales tax. God bless Google, and God bless the internet!

Let's see given the Tires wern't rated safe at much of Any Speed, the safety equipment was a (optional) Leather Skull Cap and the Brakes on todays Shifter Karts are vastly superior to what was on that Car, I'd have to say at any speed over 50mph or so That Puppy is Still a Monster!! Good to see you returning to Cars. The Street Cars were Neat, But Road Racers of any Vintage, YEA!

Ha, you must mean my models! I'll get 100 views and 2 comments. I just laugh and imagine guys looking at my light commercial project, thinking to himself, "Dam, not a Hemi." And clicking back to the index! Give these boys some culture Harry!

thatz4u Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Hey Harry, give the mojo a day or two off between builds, it works better when rested, have fun with the new ones, Al
Harry P. Posted June 30, 2016 Author Posted June 30, 2016 Don't worry, Al... I plan to take my sweet time.
CometMan Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Good for you, Harry!! Glad to hear that you found something to get the old fire re-kindled, those look like great kits!
Ramfins59 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 OK Harry...... Send some of that rekindled mojo fire this way would ya...... I could use some.

Aside from the Christmas truck I just saw, I don't recall seeing anything from you lately, Tom. You normally only build trucks?

Sorry, Rich... it took me several months to get it back, and I don't have any extra to send your way! Don't worry. Just like I got the bug back, you will, too.
JollySipper Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 The Mefistofele box says over 500 parts....! Here's to hoping the chain links don't have mold lines.......
