GMP440 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Looks like this kit is selling well. Will ever see any other stock G-body subjects coming out?Good subjects could be any 78-87 Pontiac Grand Prix, 81-87 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, etc.
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 With the close similarity of the body shells among the three cars mentioned, and the use of the corporate Chevy smallblock in the Pontiacs and Montes, it would seem that additional G-body cars would be relatively easy to derive from the Olds kit and other existing tooling (Revell already has, I'm pretty sure, a smallblock Chebby block backed up with an appropriate auto trans). The '86 NASCAR homologation-special Gran Prix 2+2 would be an interesting variation.
1930fordpickup Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 We will see another Oldsmobile from this but any other brand is a good question. A Grand National Buick is already out so is the Monte Carlo SS, that would be a stretch for another of these kits.
Toner283 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Hopefully it will sell well enough for Revell to tool up a G body Malibu. I own several and would love to build them in scale but finding decent resin ones is difficult and costly.
unclescott58 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I'm hoping for a non Hurst version of the Olds.
martinfan5 Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 (edited) I'm hoping for a non Hurst version of the Olds. This right here, dealer stock with wire wheels would be nice. Edited August 18, 2016 by martinfan5

I agree with all the above!

Craig Irwin Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 It's like any other kit, if it sells well it will probably inspire additional kits in the same vane.
Brett Barrow Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 The FE3-X Olds is pretty much confirmed at this point. Pretty sure the plan was a 2 in 1 with stock parts. I know of a certain party in the industry that is pushing Revell hard for a Malibu so I know it's at least on their radar.
Merkur XR4Ti Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I wouldn't mind a stock Grand Prix. A buddy I grew up with had one that looked just like this, complete with factory faded two-tone paint job and a burgundy interior. We cruised around a lot in that car. It was quite nice for the time.

I would buy one of these! I thought the fastback NASCAR 2+2 that Bill posted was rather ungainly, don't think I ever saw one on the street.

I would think any new kit designed today has to be offered in several types of livery in order to justify tooling. The recent Olds Cutlass convertible is a great example, which makes me wonder what they have planned for the upcoming Bronco kit....????? The Malibu would be nice to have and if I had to guess, it would be along the lines of the Mustang LX where it would be a stock and a drag version.
Deathgoblin Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 I'd like to see a stock Monte Carlo, Non-SS version.
mademan Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 I'd like to see a stock Monte Carlo, Non-SS version. in the mean time, a guy that goes by the name of ART ROLL on facebook, casts a really nice monte carlo CL nose. and Jevries out of the Netherlands does a great LS conversion.

Ace-Garageguy Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 That is one hidious looking car. The wheels are ok lol As noted above, it was a "homologation special", a limited production model done to allow the aerodynamically slipperier rear window to be allowed for racing in NASCAR...
om617 Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 I understand. The stance has a big influence on how i see it. looks pretty good in it`s race-suit,lowered and meaty tires.
Toner283 Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 The nascar spec cars were also produced for the Monte Carlo. Google "Monte Carlo Aerocoupe" and it will pop up. Same back window as the Pontiac 2+2 but IMO less overinflated looking.

mikemodeler Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Revell offered up a stock version of the Monte Carlo Aerocoupe, don't recall it being reissued.

Unless they tool up a stock nose there isn't much need for another Monte. AMT/MPC had the earlier (78-82) Montes offering, wonder if they are considering a re-issue at this point? Would be nice to see a Malibu coupe and wagon come forth, Revell did have an El Camino based off of the 78-80 models that could be used as the base for the wagon.
