Restored AMX/3 wins at Pebble Beach 2016

This car won the Concours D' Elegance at Pebble Beach this year. The yellow car is the original model.

What did it win?  It appears it won its class, not overall.

The 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance winner was a 1936 Lancia Asturia Pinin Farina cabriolet.

Looked at the Pebble Beach site for more info.  So far, all I found was:

What a simply gorgeous car that is. AMC was at the top of its game at that place in time. It becomes hard to reckon such a fall from grace when they had cars of this caliber in the design studios and then reality.

They took such chances and pulled off quite a few great ideas, then plunk down weirdos like the Pacer and Gremlin. Those cars have a place in my heart but they are not Pebble Beach winners. So it begs the question. How can such great ideas such as this come out of a house that would fall within [or thereabouts] a decade?

My Grandmothers 1969 Javelin was a stunning car. I went to see Jaws in it in 1975. I recall other rides in it and people would look at the car and smile. It really was that nice.

I know the history is out there but  I just cannot fathom how it goes wrong once you see this and other cars from them.

Blows my mind.

I own a 1974 Javelin factory 401... I only wish it was in the condition of that AMX/3!!!
