russosborne Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Not a complaint, just an fyi.My first instinct is to blame my computer (pos that it is) but this seems to be the only site where it really is noticeable.Using Firefox and Windows 7 HP.Thanks,Russ
1930fordpickup Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Russ it does seem to have slowed down again. The cable guy was here today and redid some connections. I will say the site runs faster for me if I pause AdBlock. Not a problem to pause it though.
afx Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I have definitely noticed it. No doubt it is related to the ads.
MrObsessive Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I also think it's the ads. On my iPhone trying to view the site it's VERY slow, but it's the ads that are bogging it down as I have no adblocker app running. On my PC and laptop, it's no problem at all although I'm running an adblocker with Chrome on Windows 10.
TarheelRick Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 I have my ad-blocker turned on and the site is responding very slowly - almost "dial-up" speed. I am using fiber-optic DSL, windows 7 HP. AS others have stated this is the only forum that is this slow.
russosborne Posted November 4, 2016 Author Posted November 4, 2016 I'm using the adblocker that is part of Firefox. So I don't think it is the ads on my end.it could be this computer, just not sure why this site is the worst of the ones I visit regularly. Thanks,Russ
Dave Ambrose Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Thanks. I saw some slow-down the other day, and wondered whether if were weren't just heavily loaded. We do get slow periodically, and I have to go in and do some database maintenance that seems to help for a while. I'll plan to do that this weekend.
Pete J. Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 I've had some issues with both speed and content lately. This morning the pictures didn't load and some of my posts hard to get processed.
Dave Ambrose Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Folks, please let me know if things are acceptably speedy for the rest of today.
jamesed Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 It's Saturday and it's slow again. Getting old.
Dave Ambrose Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 (edited) A lot of our picture content comes from PhotoBucket, and lately they've been more like PhotoBucketOfFail. I see they're back online again. It seems reasonably fast for me now, but we'll have to see how things develop. If you experience slowness, please PM me or post here with the date and time (with time zone!). I want to try to correlate this with server activity and load. Thanks,Dave Ambrose Edited November 6, 2016 by Dave Ambrose
Tesla Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Very slow! I cleared the cache, disabled my ad blocker...no improvement. 11/6/16 @ 9:05 AM EST
plastic trucker Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Everything was pretty fast today, 11/06/16 4:30PM CDT. I even rebooted my modem too the other day before cleaning the computer.
afx Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Noticeably faster but still hangs up now and again.
AC Norton Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 slow, choppy, and inconsistent.....the Ace...
russosborne Posted November 7, 2016 Author Posted November 7, 2016 Just more information, it does seem better at the moment. However, I normally am not on here at this time of day. I am usually on late evenings/early mornings Arizona time. 10pm to maybe 3am, on and off. Which is when it seems the slowest to me. Maybe you guys are doing maintenance at that time?Whichever, I still totally appreciate the forum and what you guys are doing. Thanks,Russ

Most of that is taken care of by the hosting company, which may be running backups in that time window. If I'm doing heavy maintenance, I'll let you know in advance, and take the site offline. I'm glad you're enjoying the forum.
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Around 4:10 PM, EST Tuesday...hanging during posting and swapping between topics. Not bad, but annoying.
russosborne Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 It was happening again for me, around 5pm or so AZ time, but this time on my cell phone. So I guess that eliminates my laptop. Russ
russosborne Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 For right now at least it is running great. 4:30pm Arizona time.No slow down at all.Dennis, I have Firefox installed, been my only browser used in over two years on this computer. When the site slows down FF isn't a magic bullet. At least for me. But yeah, I would never willingly run Explorer or Chrome if possible.Russ
plastic trucker Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Has been pretty good until today at about 4:45 PM Central time, then it slowed down to a crawl.
om617 Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 In a diffrent timezone then most users but it`s slow no matter if it`s morning or night.
