cruz Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Just thought I'd share this w/ you guys. I think it looks good even though I still like it here more but it is a place worth visiting once in a while!!!
kk916 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 And it still looks like a clown car exploded. I'll stick with this forum thanks.
935k3 Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Has anybody using th Mozilla Firefox browser even able to view the sight? It looks like they are forcing you to use Internet Explorer
Rob Hall Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 (edited) Has anybody using th Mozilla Firefox browser even able to view the sight? It looks like they are forcing you to use Internet Explorer I haven't been able to login yet...the site claims you can reuse your existing profile, but it doesn't seem to work for me with Firefox. I don't use IE (and esp. now that I've gone to a Mac). Edited May 9, 2008 by Rob Hall
novadose71 Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Has anybody using th Mozilla Firefox browser even able to view the sight? It looks like they are forcing you to use Internet Explorer I tried with Mozilla for a few minutes, got frustrated and gave up. I'll try again later. From the way it sounds, this completes the selling out of SAE to corporate--oh yeah it's SA now....I forgot they dropped the enthusiast.
crispy Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I'm using Firefox and was able to re-register and post. It went pretty smoothly for me. Although I'm not a fan of the change over. Their are a few quirks that I'm sure they are going to have to deal with. When I click on an item to read I just like to back out and go, but then the box jumps out and asks me to continue or cancel because of post data. Change is hard, but inevitable, I hope it works for them. Chris
Zoom Zoom Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Here's the deal: It wouldn't let me in either, it wouldn't recognize my email address. As a subscriber, I had to use my subscriber number (12 digits), enter my zip code, enter my password, and I retrieved my username. You can also start with a new username. Not sure how it works for non-subscribers. There's a whole lot more online goodies now for subscribers. It's definitely going to take time to figure it all out, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. I was able to access all of my reviews easily; I assume there will be a lot more of the magazine content available online. I'm on Firefox and I couldn't get in via IE either. You have to follow the directions to the letter. User-friendly it is not! They sent out an email explaining things; that helped me out as I couldn't figure it out on my own. If you're a subscriber or have an email address listed for forum use, you should get that email.
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Has anybody using th Mozilla Firefox browser even able to view the sight? It looks like they are forcing you to use Internet Explorer I only use mozilla, I had to re register but I get in without any probs. It will never be the site this one is and it IS gaudy and hard to navigate. there's way too much junk on it. I never have gotten my photobucket direct link to work. The pics worked ok but nothing else. As of right now, I can't see me spending much time there and don't see it happening in the forseeable future
LUKE'57 Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 It won't let me re-register either..........oh wait.....that's right.....I got kicked off the old board so that may have a little something to do with it. Can't remember if it was because I was a bad boy and posted that rebel flag or whether it was because I showed up at one of their events in this tanker with a load of 'shine. Guess I just don't fit in with the "modern era" crowd, huh?
stump Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Has anybody using th Mozilla Firefox browser even able to view the sight? It looks like they are forcing you to use Internet Explorer Yep...another one here who tried unsuccessfully with Firefox.... I still have IE enabled on my old 'puter and was able to get in using that....but it's awfully slooooooow....my main reason for going Mozilla is because I find it heaps quicker....but I couldn't get very far at all on the new site..... I contacted Mr Haught (?) about it........still waiting on a reply..........

They emailed me back quickly; plus they had sent a general email out. Everyone has to re-register, but you can reclaim your screen name.

Yeah, it's probably nothing that Jim will be able to help me with in any case...I threw the question at him re; Mozilla vers. IE. My problem was opposite to yours by the looks..I could get in using IE, but couldn't with Mozilla...maybe it's a "cookie" thing..? Anyways.....I like it here.... cheers mate Greg
James Flowers Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I don't like it much. Took me for ever to get back in. I see no reason why you could not just login with your old passwords.
lordairgtar Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I had no trouble using my Mozilla. But I just don't like it at all now. Looks cheap. I guess it could be worse, they could have made it look like the old Hobby Heaven boards. I can't use that one at all, it gives me a headache just to read it.
Harry P. Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 (edited) Just to add to the comments... I'm having nothing but problems. First I couldn't get in at all. Didn't realize I had to sign up all over again. The site won't run on my home Mac at all! Latest posts don't show up until some time later. Where did the option to create a poll go? Geez, lots of frustrated people over there. And that's supposed to be a vastly "improved" site??? I think I'll just watch the train wreck safely from here... Edited May 9, 2008 by harrypri
my name is nobody Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 tried to re-sign up over there. either their having some real difficulties with their system, or my computer is screwed up. it would absolutely not let me in. dont believe I was ever banned over there, at least this site will still have me........

Been noticing you having a hard time getting some answers, too, Harry.
kk916 Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I've tried to log in/re register a few times with no luck. Seriously my only thought is if it takes an email to every member so people can figure out how to long on then maybe your forums need some serious work. I think I had like 2 post over there though it was good for an occasional lurk it's still not worth the effort. They should have spend less time deciding what colors to make the board and more on actually getting it working.
MikeMc Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 If you set it up correctly....it does work better than it did....I belong to 3 forums and they all are a pain at times.....
sjordan Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I'm using Mozilla Firefox on a Mac and had no problem accessing the site or re-registering.
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I just posted a note for the admins on the other site. I will prob get kicked off for it, but I don't care. Why should I and everyone that uses Mozill have to make changes to their pc just to post thing there. I told them if they couldn't fix the prob they created, then I wouldn't be back. Ya I know, like they care if I'm there or not, but if everyone leaves, there will be no forum for them.
Raul_Perez Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 ...Geez, lots of frustrated people over there. And that's supposed to be a vastly "improved" site??? I think I'll just watch the train wreck safely from here... That's too funny, Harry!! I think that I'll save myself from the frustration, irritation and anguish by just staying here...besides...I haven't posted there for several months and haven't visited for several weeks...
lonewolf Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Just the fact that this discussion is still ongoing here sets this forum apart from the others. if this discussion were happening on "the other forum" about something that was going on with "this forum", it would have been locked by now. You're a class act Gregg, and we appreciate the freedoms you allow us.
Aaronw Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 What's the deal with an ad filling up 1/2 the screen? Between the side bar and the ads not much room is left for the actual posts.
Jello Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Well, its not a pretty sight for sure! I had to use a new password just to get back in...and theres still tons of stuff not working but that is to be expected I reckons when using stupid computers...or is that computer users? All this changing in todays world ( I'am old school) is ridiculous and its got to be some kind of conspiracy by the youngster$ to mess up us old dogs! Hopefully the changes in the SA forum will be worth it and things take time. Harry, I hear ya loud, you have been complaining all over the SA forum! ~ Jeff
