robertburns Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Any kit parts like wheels, motors, bodies that you'd like to buy in 1/25th scale, that already exist in 1/24th scale, or even in 1/20th scale? Thanks for reading
Mark Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 I can think of two whole 1/20 scale kits that I wouldn't mind seeing in 1/25 scale today: MPC's AMX and Ford Econoline. The van could probably be done with the same level of detail (opening doors, etc).
JTalmage Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 That MPC Econoline van would be awesome in 1/25!!!
Junkman Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Barris Rickshah, Popcorn Wagon, Chuck Wagon, Gridiron Grabber, Hard Hat Hauler, etc.
Reegs Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Probably everything Monogram made from Day 1. Maybe even Lindberg (including their make-it-fit-the-box scale). Pyro? Y'know, come to think of it, not making it in 1/25 scale should have resulted in a long prison sentence.
gtx6970 Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 1970 Road Runner would be pretty high on my list.

The van could probably be done with the same level of detail (opening doors, etc). I'll second that and add the MPC STP 'guppy' Indy turbine.
StevenGuthmiller Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 How about a '56 Chevy Belair hardtop in 1/25th.A convertible would do nicely as well. Steve
CometMan Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Any of the true Classics. Packards, Duesenbergs, etc.
mini trucker Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 I'd take the MPC AMX in 1/25th scale as well as the Lindberg mini pickup offerings from the early 90's
HotRodaSaurus Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 The Ghia L6.4 (sort of Duel Ghia). Probably my one favourite to have as a kit. Corgi did a die cast and someone else did a poor rendition in 1/32(Hong Kong plastic toy)More than likely not enough interest in it though.
disabled modeler Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Id love to see these in 1/25th scale...MPC Ford Econoline van...full detail with opening doors, etc. would be cool...even would take a snap kit of it if its realistic looking.Military 6x6 truck or 2 1/2 ton truck.Monograms 1980 Pontiac Trans Am 1/8th scale...Id be happy with it in the scale it is.Linberg small scale 70s car series kit in 1/25th would be nice...Grand Prix, etc.Any 75 Firebird TA kit in 1/25th scale...full detail or snap.Normatt Winnebago motorhome in 1/25th scale.
John Goschke Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Monogram 1/20th '56 Cadillac and Ideal 1/20th Continental Mk-II!
stitchdup Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 a bay window vw van, there are so many split screen kits now but no bay windows
W-409 Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 I think anything that was originally 1/20 would be better as 1/25. I have nothing against 1/20 scale kits even though they might look a bit goofy on display cabinet with a big bunch of those regular 1/25 models, but the problem is that there are so few 1/20 kits out there that most people don't have much spare parts for them. That said, you'd have to build them box stock, or then scratchbuild all of the details. And then the legendary 1/24 VS 1/25. I have never seen a difference between those two scales. In fact I think that the difference is so small that it doesn't matter, bigger problem is that sometimes kit parts can be different size compared to each other, even if both kits were the same scale. Some kits, for example AMT "Twister Vega" have way too small engines compared to the size of the engine bay. I mix up 1/24 and 1/25 parts all the time with no problems, so I don't care which scale it says on the box top. That's good, because there are some very good kits released in both scales.
StevenGuthmiller Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Monogram 1/20th '56 Cadillac and Ideal 1/20th Continental Mk-II! I'll go along with that! Steve
Mike999 Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Another vote for that '56 Cadillac. Complete with 1/25 figures and dog!I noticed differences between 1/25 and 1/24 back when I was a little kid and wanted to swap MONOGRAM wheels/tires onto an AMT kit. They just didn't look right. Same goes for most engines and other useful parts.Sometimes there's even a battle between 1/25 and 1/25, in the same company. Try this comparison - the Thompson submachine gun and other weapons from later MPC kits, like the Dodge police cars or Jeeps, with the similar weapons in the old "Gangbuster" series. The Gangbuster guns are noticeably smaller. I always thought the Gangbuster figures were like 1/27 scale or something, since they seem small too. But I guess you could pass that off as "people were smaller in the 1920's." OK, but their Tommy guns weren't. Military modelers have this same problem in 1/35 scale, where weapons/equipment from one company is visibly different sized from others. Even though they are all supposed to be the same scale.
Junkman Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 (edited) That '68-'74 Econoline would be such a no brainer, would it not?Dave Metzner, do you read this? Edited December 13, 2016 by Junkman

Same goes for most engines and other useful parts.Exactly; that's why I'm going with Monogram wheels/tires/etc. on my Hubley '60 and '61 Ford wagons - those really need 1/24 parts to look good. The custom wheelcovers in their old '55 Chevy kit are nearly-perfect copies of the '61 Ford ones, and the T-bird wire wheels in the original-issue '40 Ford pickup are like fine jewelry (somebody should recast these!).

They just didn't look right. Same goes for most engines and other useful parts. I agree, sometimes it might be a problem, but not always. I built an AMT '67 Impala a few years ago and used tires from some old Monogram 1/24 kit. They fit with no problems and look much better and more accurate size than the too small AMT tires the kit came with... Same thing was done on AMT '66 Oldsmobile, and probably with some other kits too (Can't really remember them all!).
disabled modeler Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 who made a 6x6 truck or Winnebago in 1/20 or 1/24?No one did I know of but id still like to see them done for us.
