Atmobil Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 For the first time in nearly two years, I have completed a model. This is Hasegawas 67 VW type 2 panel van painted in original VW paint Light Grey (code L345). Decals from the AMT 40 Ford panel delivery "Three Stooges" kit is a "plan B" thing after the decals that I had planned to use disintegrated when I tried to apply them. It was supposed to have aftermarket decals that depicted a catering van from the Copenhagen Zoo. Anyway, all that remains is a pair of licenceplates and some wash in the door openings. I may add that in the not to distant future.
shoopdog Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Nice work Gaute, it's a shame about the original decals.
Atmobil Posted December 18, 2016 Author Posted December 18, 2016 Great looking !!! Thank you Nice work Gaute, it's a shame about the original decals. Thank you, the decalsheet have stripes for both Revell and Hasegawa kit and I think that maybe a light spray with clear will maybe make the useable. So I will have to get a Revell VW panel van and try on that kit later. Very nice build, what wheels did you use ? Thank you, so you noticed the wheels. They come from the Polar Lights snap kit (Spiderman beetle) and I think they look much better than the beetle wheels that Hasegawa put in the box
geetee66 Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Super clean buildnice finish on the paint, too.I might have to get one of these. They look like good kits
TooOld Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Definitely worth the wait , very nicely done !
GeeBee Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Thank you, so you noticed the wheels. They come from the Polar Lights snap kit (Spiderman beetle) and I think they look much better than the beetle wheels that Hasegawa put in the box I'm still not sure why they didn't use the wheels from their '66 Beetle instead of using the one's from the '67 Beetle.
PatW Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Superb build Atmobil and nice to see you back. I've had a few decals falling to bits recently, so having to use other decals from my pile. I did though cure a number of other old decals. I sprayed two coats of auto clear acrylic laquer on the sheets as I got them in the post. These were with old Nascar or 'already started' kits from ebay here in the UK.I also realised when I went to use them that I had the cut them out very close to the image outline, and all of them have laid up really well and not collapsed into dust!

Thank you all for the comments. Pat, a friend of mine suggested I should try clearing the decals so I think I will do that and use them on a Revell kit sometime in the future.
