James2 Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 For the new year I'm visiting an old idea. Tim Boyd did an article years back on this subject which inspired my to build this. My new build will be inspired by this,

James2 Posted December 25, 2016 Author Posted December 25, 2016 nice looking Roadster ,what kit did the headers come from?Styrene rod, self bent.
James2 Posted December 26, 2016 Author Posted December 26, 2016 (edited) Here are a few pieces I've gathered so far. Still haven't found a power plant though? I am thinking Blue Oval. I'm also not sold on just these parts, I'm sure some better things can be found or Made! Edited January 1, 2017 by James2
oldnslow Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 Grab an old nascar kit and add fuel injection , really nice detail and headers that fit. I dropped one in my 32.
johnz Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 used to see that black a out at our dragstrip it had a boss 302 loved it!
gasser59 Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Loved that Flashback roadster of yours when you first did it James. Very inspirational. Looking forward to your next one.
modelfink Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 (edited) The Monogram Slingster dragster has 2 engine options ( SBC with Hillborn injection and blown Hemi ) that are pretty sweet, although not Ford. The Hallibrand injection on the SBC in the Slingster is nice. The Revell Parts Pac 427 Ford would be an option or the smaller 312 in the 57 Gasser Wagon. Cool project! madhorseman Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Looks really cool!! Reminds me of Hugh Tucker's
Ace-Garageguy Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 The orange car is a knockout. Looking forward to seeing how the RPU version plays out.
James2 Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) Just tinkering with a few ideas, but I think I'm on to something. Right now I'm fitting an injection intake from Fred's Resin, working out the stance and misc. pieces. Edited January 1, 2017 by James2
James2 Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 First of the new calendar year. Moving onto the engine, from a Revell 69 Mustang with some modified pieces. I got some parts from "Davemodeltech" and quickly cut things up for this project. Making Chevy parts for a Ford is a lot like putting a square peg in a round hole! But I believe when it is all finished it will be fine.
James2 Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 Scratch made some suitable headers yesterday. Not the best collector but I did not glue them yet, I think with some smaller tubing I could make them better.
6bblbird Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 James! Are we working out of the same box or are we in a parallel universe ? Here is the start of my roadster pick up:
James2 Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 One thing we can all agree on is most kit Moon tanks stink! Today I discovered a BIC pen is just the right size diameter to make one of these look presentable. The ID is a close fit for the end piece and simply flush cutting the tank free from the other allows for good results. And no I couldn't leave the lights and bar alone... What'd ya think?
gasser59 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 What a great improvement over the kit tank. I think a full tank might be a bit heavy for the light bar in real life. On your kit, you can do anything you like. :-)
