AND I"M BACK! The chassis issue that has sidetracked my Charger has been sorted with a minimum of fuss. No visible changes that need pics yet, but soon!

so my foxbody idea is not going to work out so if I could I'd like to change my entry, it's still a mustang but I'm combining these two into a nasty cross country monster.

I am changing my entry to a amt 1970 Monty Carlo it is a brand new 0% complete kit. I know I have changed my entry a cupel of times but the reason I am changing my entry is because I have had some problems with the paint on my other entry. So if possible could jantrix edit my entry to have amt 1970 Monty Carlo instead of the dodge Monaco?

thanks and sorry for the confusion

That Saleen kit builds up really nice.  I thought it sat too high in classic Revell fashion so watch the stance but otherwise a great car.

First of all, here is a picture of my second entry - untouched kit:

Cale, what are you doing to "wreck" these kits maybe we can help sort things out? If it's paint, there are several options for removing bad paint with no damage to the plastic.

I wrecked the body of my Malibu by using a heat gun to make some minor body damage and I ruined the paint on the other two and I don't have anything to remove the paint. I found the Mitsubishi at my local hobby shop and I had a idea for a good cross country racer. I am extremely sorry and I hope that you understand that I don't want to enter a pile of plastic.

The reason for them all ending up like this is because I have tried to do some new things like two tone, rust and making dents and this next one is going to be a bit more simple.

Thanks and sorry

No need for apologies, just ask for ideas or help, we've all had failures.

Lots of ways to strip paint, don't throw them to the junkyard yet.

Keep at it !

Cale,

Go to Crappy Tire and pick up some

superclean_zpsgjkyp8hr.jpg

it'll strip most paints np. Just get a large rectangular tupperware container from the dollar store, deep enough for the model you have, fill it up and drop in the bodies with the bad paint. I just finished striping the paint of a '70 Cuda that's be on for the last 18 or so years and it was completely cleaned off in less than 2 days. And my Super Clean bath is pretty old its almost due for a jug...just waiting for the next sale on SC.

Once cleaned, you'll be able to reuse the body, or at the very least, keep it for practice.

Agreed. No need for apologies. Although the Cannonball is a competition, we're all here to help you get to the starting line. David is dead right on the Super Clean. If you used a lacquer, you'll need 90% isopropyl alcohol from the drug store to do the stripping. Between those two mediums, you're pretty much set.

A heat gun is too unfocused to use for dents. I prefer an open candle flame and the handle of one of my tools.

Rust, I can definitely help with. Shoot me a PM some time and we can go over some methods.

I'm entering this thing...this will be awesome as now that I'm back I want to do some quality builds. Not sure what my entry will be but I can guarantee you it'll be funky, it'll have an engine swap, and it'll be detailed.

Entry pics will happen after I roam through my existing kits tonight.

Jumping back in with both feet, eh? That's the way to do it!

Exactly Dennis. Now that I'm not in the service, I have more time...and since I live alone, I have more freedom to spend it any way I want, so instead of knocking out a slump buster, I'd rather focus on something cool and worthwhile :D (plus I still have a few awesome engines and parts and a bunch of unopened boxes
