gasser59 Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 (edited) Finally finished this build after taking a few years to get it done. Lost my mojo a few times and had to get re-inspired to finish it. Resin cab from Ed Fluck and AMT chassis and truck bed. Wild Willy engine. Entered in Desert Scale Classic last Saturday and took second place in the Nostalgia Drag class. Also won the first ever Tim Pentecost Memorial Award. Problem loading pictures of trophy plaque in PhotoBucket. Will try later. The plaques are really cool. Edited July 21, 2017 by gasser59 1

Intmd8r Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Excellent work-the visual textures look spot on.Congrats on the well deserved awards
espo Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Beautiful build, easy to see why you won the metals. Those are really nice looking plaques.
Rocking Rodney Rat Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Sweet. I really like the subtle patina. Nice awards, too!! -RRR
Randy D Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Congrats my friend !!!!!!!!! Great Model and well deserved awards!!!!! Randy
gasser59 Posted April 13, 2017 Author Posted April 13, 2017 Thanks brother. So good to see you at DSC and see your new endeavor. The stuff you had on the table was just amazing. I know I asked you at DSC but my memory is no bueno. Please tell me again, where did you get the small tubing that you solder all together?
Snake45 Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Different, subtle, interesting! Nice to see one built without that ill-fitting AMT kit flip front end.
donb Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Excellent work-the visual textures look spot on.Congrats on the well deserved awards Ditto!
Randy D Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Brad, The tubing is from Albion Alloys, thinnest walled tubing I have found. Sprue Brothers keeps a good selection in stock....https://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/albsft06.htmRandy
slusher Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Fantastic build Brad, and congratulations on the awards!!!!!
gasser59 Posted April 15, 2017 Author Posted April 15, 2017 Thanks guys. Very much appreciate your comments.
Greg Pugh Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Looks great! What was wrong with the kit-issued cab?
gasser59 Posted April 16, 2017 Author Posted April 16, 2017 Looks great! What was wrong with the kit-issued cab? Thanks so much Greg. The AMT kit's original cab is a flip-nose and it doesn't fit very well to the rearward part of the front fenders when in the down position. The fenders also have too much of a crease along the top of the fenders. I've always thought this kit had potential if they'd just fix the cab.
Greg Pugh Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Mmmmm....I might have to get ahold of Ed. Thanks Brad!
gasser59 Posted April 17, 2017 Author Posted April 17, 2017 Mmmmm....I might have to get ahold of Ed. Thanks Brad!I'm not sure he's making these any more. He just a number of pulls from his molds before they start to deteriorate. That's when he stops casting those parts. When I got this one form his a couple of years ago, I believe he said there were only a couple left.
Danno Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Thanks Mr. D. I'll check it out. Hey, Brad! Hobby Depot carries the Albion Alloys line.
Brett Barrow Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Different, subtle, interesting! Nice to see one built without that ill-fitting AMT kit flip front end.Yeah, Ed's cab is mastered from the new-tool Revell coupe.
