Looking forward to seeing more updates on this crazy cuztom build.  You are the 25th scale George Barris - and I mean that in a good way.  Some wild ideas, some subtle ones added in and some great build techniques.  Did you every find where that dash came from?  It would suit a project I just got the body for.

Remember this thing?   to be honest I completely forgot about it.. However I booked my room for NNL East, and I want to take something...  I went into my workshop to take inventory and look for a model I can have completed by April and this one jumped out at me.   So here we go!   NNL East of Bust!

There were a few things that I was stumped on back in 2018 that caused this to get set on the WIP shelf of doom, so first things first lets get those out of the way.

  • taillights
  • bike ramp
  • hood

So first up were the taillights, I grabbed some parts box bezels and then altered the body line with some thick styrene. I'm going to use some epoxy putty to mold all this together.
This helps make those cruiser skirts look less foreign and gives me a nice flat surface to do some 1956 ford inspired copper trim!

God, I remember this! I was, (and still am.), amazed by what you planned and the the execution. This'll be awesome when completed.

Progress!  Hood reworked/shortened, scratchbuilt cowl vent, frenched side pipes, firewall detail added, bulkhead constructed, and epoxy putty applied and smoothed… I think I just need to work on a reversed hood hinge and scribe some door lines and its time for some primer!

A little more progress... primed, hinged , lots of little detail added... some more filler and cleanup to do, hoping to display on the "in progress" table this Saturday in Columbus Ohio for the Buckeye Classic!

At this rate you should have it in paint and polished, nevermind a WIP...lol

Just some stellar scratching here Eric !

Thanks Bruce!! I appreciate the kinda words!

I cant tell you how good it feels to get this bike ramp knocked out... nothing better than finishing up something you had been back of mind  brainstorming since 2018.. 🤣

I think this wraps up the "heavy" fabrication, now its just some minor things... cargo boxes, air tanks... then its on to final cleanup, paint and details!

This is a pretty killer looking buildand super inspiring. I am stoked to see the final product. Are you still going with the Flathead v8 for the power plant?

A most enterprising build for sure! I am in awe of your craftsmanship Sir! Some very innovative build processes for sure! I am very pleased to have happened upon this! I am looking forward to seeing more on this build soon! Had I known about the Buckeye Classic sooner I would have traveled from Bucyrus to see this in person! Thank You for sharing this with all of Us here! Very much appreciated!

Thanks guys!  I managed to get the basic chassis programed and cut over the weekend.  Now the fun part of getting all of the pieces cut out the rest of the way.  Since I used .020 and my cutter only scores at that thickness, I have to go back and trace each path with a sharp xacto knife... these parts are all a bit to delicate to just snap out as normal.

Here is where i ended up on the cutting paths, planing on layering up the .020  frame rails to create a .100 x .100 "tube" frame.  I added some positive location points on the rails, so i can make sure I keep everything straight and square.... this will make more sense later... I promise.

and here is the second sheet of frame reinforcement parts... this will also make more sense later.

and cut!
