Anyone watching this season of Fargo? What exact year is that Vette? Looks like somewhere between '74 and '77 but I'm not sharp enough on those years to tell which. I have an orange promo of about that vintage that I'm planning to Snakeify soon, and thought it might be fun to do the TV car if possible. And the new Revell Yenko '69 has the luggage rack in it, right? Could be a plan....B)

I've started watching but have fallen a couple episodes behind. I'm pretty sure the Corvette is a '77 going by the little crossed-flag emblems on the front fenders. The '75 and '76 Vettes had a Stingray script there.

There ya go! I'm pretty sharp on the '63-'67s, a bit less so on '68-'73, and after that they all start looking alike to me. But I figgered someone here would know. Thanks! B)

We're watching it too! Great show, but then anything the Coen brothers are involved in is usually great.

I don't think they have anything to do with the series, other than inspiring it. But it does seem to have their flavor, doesn't it? (I'm only up to episode 3 of this season so far.)

My GF and I are locationally obligated to watch all episodes of all the series. I pointed out to her it was within character that Ray Stussy drives an old Corvette, but the least popular version. You could add a Revell Hummer H2 and have yourself a little scene diorama.

Great thread!  If you build Ray's Vette, you may have to decide whether it will be pre-Hummer or post-Hummer.  In last week's episode, we could see the post-Hummer version, with the fiberglas split open right at the roof pillar.  And of course, in homage to the original movie...don't forget that Tru-Coat! :-)

One of the umpteen projects I have going is a grungy '76 Vette.  Had an MPC kit missing a few things like the interior tub, but found those in parts boxes. Internet research provided a lot of inspiration, like pix of Vettes from that era with the paint worn and scruffy.

Their names are in the credits. I'll have to watch the next one and see what their roles are.

I didn't realize until I was reading about it today on the net that one guy is playing both brothers!

And in episode 3, the young actress and the old waitress were played by mother and daughter--one of Clint Eastwood's ex-wives and their daughter!!:blink:

"I can help!"

"Executive Producer" can be (and often is) a largely ceremonial title in Hollywood. It often means someone has been paid for the use of their name (or they own the franchise, or so on); other times, it's a way to give the star of a TV show another pile of money without violating contracts, SAG rules, and so forth. Like the "Publisher" of a newspaper, a Hollywood "Executive Producer" often has little or nothing to do with the execution, content, day to day  production, or final product, other than to put their stamp of approval on it.

Here's a fun article about the cars in Fargo, Season 2.  It was set in 1979, so featured many "malaise-mobiles."  But it was filmed in Canada, so some cars from the era were hard to find up there, like the '69 Corvair.  I noticed that the Minnesota Highway Patrol Gran Fury had the name-letters removed from its hood (leaving visible holes).  I guessed that was because they used a Caravelle or some other Canada-only version and wanted to disguise it.
