Now if Revell REALLY wanted to do something, they would update the Eliminator to how it current looks, rather than it's 1980s video fame.

gibbons1-640x512.jpg

Look up the video for the "new" (2012) ZZTop song "I Gotsa Get Paid" to see it, along with 3 other rat style hot rods and some pretty girls driving around in the Mohave.

What makes you think that's the Eliminator? For one thing, the one in the pic is a 34.

Well, to be fair, not many of us ordinary car guys are all that adapt at ID’ing the differences in brand, much less diffs from year to year.
But I do salute those of you who can. That’s a real talent you have.
When I leave the house today, chances are, I will not be surrounded by the 85+ years vintage car makes such as Ford, Chevy, Chrysler, as well as all the later orphaned car brands.
So guys like me, count on guys like you to share your wealth of knowledge in automotive history. Thank you much! Much appreciated.

Good lort you're the 4th person to correct me about this already. My terrible unforgivable mistake to not be able to quite Gibbon's car catalog of customized old cars as bible and verse. In the video at the end the ladies find the keys to the car which are on a ZZTop key chain ala the Eliminator in it's three videos.

Guess I'll go flog myself in the corner until such time as I'm excited Revell is doing another tired reissue of an irrelevant car.

you are welcome. I think the other thing to consider would have to do with logic. The Eliminator Coupe is a iconic and finished vehicle. To build something so wildly different, it would be easier, cheaper and more sensible to start with another vehicle.

1950 is a bit slim, too bad the Studebaker (I think that was supposed to be a 50) that AMT was talking about didn't get done. I like the Chevy pu since I was one of the people heavily lobbying for on. So much so that John O'Neil (former Ertl-AMT brand manager) went I ran into him at a show a few months before it was announced told me 'to quit bugging me, its coming'. Did finally get some Hudsons even if they weren't from AMT. Now if I could convince them about the Tucker.

A little off topic but sadly John O'Neil passed away a couple of months ago. Cancer strikes again.

Sorry about that. I didn't see the other floggings.

Then there's the current Aluminum Body F-Series....now on track to sell 800,000 or more this year alone (well more than twice the volume of the best selling car in America this year).  One would have to think a current kit of that (either the F150 or the all-new Super Duty) - even if done in simplified form like the first Raptor kit - would be a worthy subject of kit development.

And digressing a moment to cars....it is beyond description that we don't have a full detail kit of the S550 generation Mustang.  It is now sold in most markets around the world, and this year also became the single best selling sports car in the world!  And there's no market for a full detail kit?  Hogwash.  It would truly be a shame if a full detail kit of this Mustang doesn't come to fruition from Revell, Round 2, or Moebius.  Because if they don't, one of the Asian kitmakers probably will, either now or later.

HEAR HEAR!

Not to discount your observations about vintage subjects - I too REALLY want an early '60s F-series - but you just brought up two of the most utterly tone-deaf omissions in the current market right now.

I mean, bully for the Round 2 Gen-6 Camaro 'n all, certainly beats none; but it also demonstrates how criminally overdue we are for good 550s.  Look at all the attention lavished on the 197.2. Guess Revell's got Mustang fatigue now, but the timing couldn't be worse.  For that 350R to go uncovered...

So do all the new ones; off-shore and otherwise ... ;)

Hadn't heard that. It'd been many years since I'd last seen him at a Super Truck race at Tucson Raceway when he was flogging the RC diecasts.

Careful, Rob.  73.6% of the population is young enough to consider you "old."     :o

At 54, I'm one year away from AARP territory and I have the Junk Mail Flyers from AARP to prove it. They are up to about one flyer every three weeks.

On the Other Hand, still no pics from Revell? I hope they don't drag out the wait until August. Round2 hasn't posted anything to the Collector Model site since June 29th.

In today's online world anything less than a once a week update is just really slow.

? Did they change their minimum age?? When I first got my "junk ads" it was fifty years of age, but that WAS 16 years ago. ??
