gtx6970 Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 (edited) Just playing with my new camera. Not a big money camera in any way. Just a good entry level Canon DSLR . Bought it mainly for my daughters high school photography class. Hopefully, She will learn how to properly use it to its full extent, then show us. yippee All taken outside in natural light with no flash. Some have the sun , others are when the sun ducked in behind the clouds. I just left the camera in Auto mode this time around to establish some kind of a base line to compare to later on. For the 1st time using it, I think they came out great. Shows the color better than my phone camera. And a pretty decent depth of view for a 1st timer. Edited December 2, 2017 by gtx6970
THarrison351 Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Man that looks good. I've had this kit since it was released. I started it when new. I really should finish it.
shoopdog Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Super sharp looking Thunderbolt! Looks like the camera is going to work out well.
Janne Herajärvi Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Cool... I like that model kit a lot..
TarheelRick Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Super nice looking T-Bolt and that color really pops. I think that new camera will be a keeper.
cobramike Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 (edited) You should seriously think about sending pics of this great car to "Tasca Ford" in Rhode island. I suspect that they would welcome seeing what a great job you did with this kit of their "Thunderbolt".Here's a link...http://www.tasca.com/ Edited September 4, 2017 by cobramike New info
espo Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Great photography and the model is outstanding.
gtx6970 Posted September 4, 2017 Author Posted September 4, 2017 Thanks all. Ive posted pics of this car before. But never been real happy with the picture quality . Ive literately taken hundreds of pics of this build with my phone camera and another different / older Sony camera. And I've never been able to really capture the color of the lower body like I want. So Im not sure if the camera eye likes the color or what.( I'm not going to rule out user error either ) Plus get a full depth of field in focus . I want to be able to read all the lettering along the side of the car in one frame. I'm still not 100% happy , but I think its the closest Ive come to date. These were done solely to give me a baseline with this particular camera. My goal is to learn how to fully take advantage of everything the camera is capable of,,,,,sooner than later. Talking to the camera sales tech we came to the conclusion its a good starter / entry level DSLR . ( If you can call $300 entry level) I was looking at a $600 + Nikon camera and decided it might be best take baby steps first.
bbowser Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Nice job on the car. A DSLR should give you all the adjustability you need, just a learning curve is all.
10thumbs Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 (edited) Hi John, great choice with the Canon. My opinion, the Canon does best when close range is required. Just I don't have an expensive model. These are from a digital pocket type cheapo, I like the closeups, they're OK for forum use. A 1:25 truck diesel motor; No lightbox, just using the overhead lamp directly on the bench. Good luck and have fun with your new photo endeavors. Great, really great T-Bolt! I love 'em. Bill J Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Nice T'Bolt and great pictures too. Always liked the Thunderbolts and hard to beat a Canon or Nikon for pictures
Mooneyzs Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Bill... Pics look great. Great looking build, Nice work.
gtx6970 Posted September 7, 2017 Author Posted September 7, 2017 Thanks again. After seeing the actual car maybe 20 years ago. Ive always wanted to build this one. Its not perfect by any means. But I'm happy to finally have it in my display case. And once I found out Tamiya made the paint colors for it. I went for it just this past winter.Just had issues getting the colors to photograph well IMO.Thanks again
