Len Woodruff Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 (edited) Anybody know how to make yellow headlights. I looked for clear yellow paint but only found amber for the turn signals. Edited October 8, 2017 by Len Woodruff Added words
John Pol Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 (edited) you can get clear yellow from vellejo or tramiya Edited October 8, 2017 by John Pol
geetee66 Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Hi LenTamiya X-24 is clear yellow. Paint the inside of the glass, so it stays shiny and smooth on the outside ?
Mooneyzs Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Len... I would think that you could use Tamiya Clear yellow or Mr. Hobby Clear Yellow. I have used the Tamiya Clear smoke to tint windows before and that worked for me. I am also thinking that you may be able to use some Future tinted with some food coloring?? I have never tried the Future myself but I would think it would work.
Len Woodruff Posted October 8, 2017 Author Posted October 8, 2017 Thanks Guys. I must have missed the x24 at the hobby shop when I was there last week.
Len Woodruff Posted October 8, 2017 Author Posted October 8, 2017 The Detailer also makes a clear yellow.Thanks. I didn't know that either. I have several of the Detailer colors but not yellow.
afx Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 I use yellow, orange and red Sharpie to color my lenses.
rsxse240 Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Why not use a yellow highlighter? Tellow sharpies would work too.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 I use yellow, orange and red Sharpie to color my lenses. Why not use a yellow highlighter? Tellow sharpies would work too. Bingo. Multiple coats make a darker color, too.
Len Woodruff Posted October 8, 2017 Author Posted October 8, 2017 Bingo. Multiple coats make a darker color, too. Thanks I will try that. Never thought of it.
mod3l Lover Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 Jeff, I have never seen that distributor set up before!?!But I like the way it looks, nicely done. David S.
Len Woodruff Posted October 9, 2017 Author Posted October 9, 2017 Thanks everyone for all of your replies. I went with the Tamiya X24 clear yellow acrylic. It looks killer. I will post some pics later today..
GLMFAA1 Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 There were yellow trees in the older AMT truck kits that had various size lenses and marker lightsgreg
lorenzoscalecustoms Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 good tip on the sharpies, never thought to use that!
JeroenM3 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 another idea, however would probably be alot harder (i havent even tried going yellow yet, first wanna get a grip on building before doing mods etc), get some yellow tinting foil at a local shop, and cut that up real small, i can only imagine the fact that this should work...
Dogfish_7 Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 You can simply use a yellow Sharpie fine pen to color the inside of the lense.
Art Anderson Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Len... I would think that you could use Tamiya Clear yellow or Mr. Hobby Clear Yellow. I have never tried the Future myself but I would think it would work.Except that food coloring issn't stable. It tends to fade over time.Art
