Guys, is revels Miata an ACTUAL 25th scale kit, or is it a rerelease of their old Airfix/Revell kit? I was talking to one of our brothers who lives in Ireland, and he matched it up with the Tamiya kit and they looked the exact same!

So I was just wondering if they were accurate on their scale? Any help would be GREATLY appericiated!

It's not Airfix George, it's Revell. It's a rare kit, but George's new release seems identical.

Says 1/24 on my box, the new repop says 1/25.

Here's a couple of pics comparing the wheelbase, the Tamiya i1/24 is the silver one.

The Tamiya body is much better, but the Revell is the only full kit.

Can anyone shed some light on this, they never tooled up a brand new one when they had this in the company stash surely?

This is a reissue of a kit first offered by Revell US around 1992-93.  It was originally billed as a 1/24 kit, as you can see on the box cover:

Molded in red plastic originally.  Its tires facilitated an avalanche of Revell low rider kits soon thereafter.

Looks like it George, I wonder why they put 1/25 on the box.

I suspect because 1/25 sells better in North America.

I remember them in the discount bin at the local Zellers dept. store for 5 bucks a peice. ,,, and hard to get rid of at that.

I mashed up a Revell kit and the Tamiya kit. I swapped the engine bay into the Tamiya kit and it is a bit smaller. I would say this kit is definitely 1/25th

That is one of the projects on my list. I like the Tamiya body proportions (and the taillight lenses) better than Revell's.
