dryvr12 Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 I am currently working on an Enzo, TMNT monster truck, and finishing up an AMT ice cream truck. What is the project your working on or just finished up?
forthlin Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Right now I'm working on Revells Tony Stewart #20 '07 Monte Carlo for a friend of mine.
CAL Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Newest? Italeri's Porsche Turbo, which is getting kind of old now. I did get a R8 recently, but haven't busted into it yet. And I just picked up the New Revel Nova. I am getting in the mood for armor though and have been looked at the Cyber Hobby Tiger, which is just an amazing kit. It is a limited one run kit and the LHS happens to have one - I'd be in the dog house though if I sprung for a $60 armor kit.
Guest Davkin Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 1/16 1935 Morgan Three Wheeler. Just building it box stock. David
dryvr12 Posted July 3, 2008 Author Posted July 3, 2008 I am awaiting the Nova, definetly my next project!!!! I am hearing soo much about this new Nova. Is there something special about ti, or does almost everyone like Novas?
just_a_doodz Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 (edited) I am hearing soo much about this new Nova. Is there something special about ti, or does almost everyone like Novas? LOL...that is a TWO-fold question.I think everyone in their right mind SHOULD like the 1969 NOva.BUT....I think a lot of it has to be the fact that it is a VERY nice kit.I bought two yesterday and Im itching to start.Seriously...it is a very nice kit.The tree for the chrome is nicely spaced to allow what I think is a sweet release of the goods.(i.e. you shouldnt have to trim the parts too much)I just wish it came with the 396.Ohhhh....and if you are that anal I understand the gastank is "backaardds".I bet there will be an article on how to change that before long....LOL. CAL Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 I am hearing soo much about this new Nova. Is there something special about ti, or does almost everyone like Novas? Yes, yes, and yes. It was a popular pony car, and the kit is state of the art. There hasn't ever been a decent Nova kit before now.

Olle F Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 I'm struggling with an MPC '57 Corvette "flip nose" right now. I have built models since the late '60s, but I believe this is actually the biggest turd I have ever had to deal with. I have already had to remove the side trim, slice the front end in four places and reshape the recesses in the doors to make everything line up, but this SOB it still ain't right. I'm afraid that this post will be deleted if I write what I really think about this kit. But as always: I refuse to let the model win, so I just have to grit my teeth and go on.

Zoom Zoom Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 I just turned out a new '08/'09 Tamiya Nissan GT-R; working on a Tamiya Kawasaki ZZR-1400 aka Ninja ZX-14, and two Revell '69 Novas, stock and drag. All of these are pretty good kits, especially the bike and the Nova.

Peter Lombardo Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Currently, I have three on the workbench, close to complete, a 1950 Chevrolet pick up truck with a seriously chopped top and flames, a 1971 Plymouth Arrow GTX hemi and a 1935 Cord Cybele. Next up is a 1971 Corvette cut away racer for the "real" cars owner, an Audi R8 and a sports car of my own design with a few neat little twists.

The Modeling Hermit Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Just a doodz That gas tank is prototypical for a very rare experimental car that Chevy made. In the late sixties, the environmental issues were just coming to the knowledge of the public. The environmentalists were focusing on the automobile as the major source of pollution. One of the cars that they kept showing pictures of, was the 1963 Chevy II. GM became concerned about their image, and started to work on an environmentally clean car, and used a Nova as the base. In 1969, they took a Nova 2 door off of the assembly line and secured it in a secret work area. They removed the gas tank, and remounted it backwards. Testing was done and found that they might be onto something. With the tank mounted normally, fuel is drawn from it to the engine, and then expelled as exhaust. With the tank reversed the car breaths the exhaust, runs that through the engine, and produces gas which is then drawn into the gas tank. Instead of producing dirty emissions, they were actually producing gas. Even though this was a rousing success, the idea was scrapped because of worries as to what impact it could have on the world economy. By the way, the project was called the Environova. So if anybody complains about the gas tank being mounted wrong; you just tell them it's an Environova.
