landman
I have been looking at this kit. I've decided to do it with the stake body and the towing boom. It will also be a dually. I looked at the BB wheels at Scenes Unlimited but they'd work out to $47 CAD by the time they're here. They would be correct for this application but my budget says other wise. So I'll still use Plaskit wheels I've had for a while. Edited October 25, 2020 by landman

But now, our dollar is worth 79 US cents.
landman
The body and resin wheels have been tanked, ready to go. Working on the engine, making the ignition wire conduits. Edited October 25, 2020 by landman
John Pol
I think that is the last time I got something from the states
landman
Working at adapting the resin wheels to the '34 axles. Had to cut the rim off the front drums to allow the wheels inside the fenders. First time for me, there appears to be an entire sprue missing, no rear suspension or axle. So I stole the one from the '34 Ford Hot Rod. I had used its roof on my '34 Chevy. Edited October 25, 2020 by landman
1930fordpickup
Looking good pat. It looks as though the running boards are a tad long yet. The exchange rate I call a wash because the connection of our hobby, but the shipping is the killer most of them time for me. Maybe I just need to learn a cheaper way to ship. mchook
You do great scratch building, so please tell me your not using the tow boom that comes in the kit. I think it would look killer with a Manley Wrecking crane like the one I built for one of my trucks.

landman
Since the driveshaft was part of the rear axle and it was missing, I had to make one. Edited October 25, 2020 by landman

landman
Setback today, got the airbrush ready and shot some color, only to realize it was full of particles. Stripped and started over. Edited October 25, 2020 by landman
landman
It wasn't until I looked at fitting the exhaust that I realized that this molding was supposed to be the exhaust pipe' So I painted it steel. landman
Setback again this morning. I had finished the painting then decided to touch up the roof. i tilted the stand , forgetting that the top wasn't fixed. Of course it fell off and rolled into the dust. landman
This is the second go around. I don't know if it is Alzheimer's, lack of attention or sheer stupidity, but I forgot the hood. I touched it up with the brush. Needless to say, that didn't work. So I think from now on it is rattle cans instead of the airbrush. I always end up making the most incredible messes with the airbrush..... landman
The truck is done. Now I have to decide if I use a wrecker boom or not and whether I use one like Jay Hook suggested. I have ordered some woodgraining paints and I want to try them on the deck. Edited October 26, 2020 by landman
landman
Fellow model Mark Hook (mchook) has kindly agreed to measure up his Manly wrecking crane for me so that I can come up with something more plausible than the kit item. Meanwhile, the truck has been parked in the back of the engine shop, awaiting the installation of the rear bed and the crane. mchook
Man, that looks great! I love this picture too, it looks like the real thing! I sent you a pm with your measurements, so I can't wait to see what's next.
landman
Started on the crane. It will be a cross between mchook's Manley and the kit's.The pile of pictures you see in the background were kindly provided by him. Took the alarm clock apart for parts. Who needs one when you are retired. It even had a ratchet for the hand crank. Blending metal, plastic and vinyl.
