My replica of Corvette SR2 #1 is finally completed. It has been 18 years since the Mini Exotic transkit was won in the raffle at the Portland NNL and probably about 14 years since I started construction. Most of the build details are in my On The Workbench posts at http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/127254-corvette-sr-2-under-glass/

This model is a close replica of how the car looks quite recently. The car was built as a racecar from a stock ’56 Corvette for the son of GM’s styling chief Harley Earl. The styling was influenced by Corvettes built for speed runs on Daytona Beach. It was further modified and painted blue after the second SR-2 was built from scratch for GM’s engineering boss Bill Mitchell. The under body and chassis has recently been restored so that is why it is red underneath. The engine originally had to twin four barrels before being equipped with Rochester Fuel Injection. The dual throttle bodies were added much later during its vintage-racing career.

'Nuff said!    :)

I started mine over a decade ago. Now I want to dig it out!  Your fault!  :)
