59 Impala Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 I just got this done a few minutes ago. It has 56 Packard tail lights, 60 Pontiac hub caps, sooped up 6 banger with two carbs, stock grill with custom bumper, and the continental kit from the parts box. The skirts are from an original 61 Chevy truck that I built back in the day. Paint is Boyd's Ice Blue and True Blue Pearls over flat gray. Oh yeah, the top is from the Foose Cady and so is the interior. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
59 Impala Posted February 21, 2018 Author Posted February 21, 2018 Thanks Ray. I enjoyed building this car. Lots of different parts from other kits and resin. Dan
59 Impala Posted February 22, 2018 Author Posted February 22, 2018 Thanks Chris, much appreciated. Dan
TarheelRick Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Cool custom, a real tail-dragger. Where did you access the Packard taillights?
59 Impala Posted February 23, 2018 Author Posted February 23, 2018 Thanks guys. The original tail lights came from Replicas & Miniatures Company of Maryland. They come with the bezels, tail lights and backup lights. Part number RH-303. They are excellent parts I might say. I'd buy from them again.
DumpyDan Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Well done, love the Packard tail lights. Very cool Dan
unclescott58 Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Very kool. A true late 50's, early 60's style kustom.
unclescott58 Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Oh! By the way. I too love the '56 Packard Clipper taillights. Still one of best looking taillights ever designed. One of Richard Teague's best designs. That's for sure. Hard to believe, but Teague who designed those beautiful Clipper taillights, would go on less than twenty years later and give us the AMC Pacer.
59 Impala Posted February 24, 2018 Author Posted February 24, 2018 Thanks guys. My love for the 56 Packard tail lights I guess is from the 56 Packard Executive that my Dad had. That car was the best riding car I ever rode in. All torsion ride. I've always wanted one ever since, but they are out of my price range for sure. Dan
RAMBENNA Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 nice job, looks great, I have done one of these kits and its not easy, you did a fine job on it.
59 Impala Posted February 24, 2018 Author Posted February 24, 2018 Thanks guys. Much appreciated. There was a lot of work to get the Cadillac interior and top to fit this body. I almost didn't finish this because of the fit issues. But, I'm happy with how it turned out. Dan
59 Impala Posted February 25, 2018 Author Posted February 25, 2018 Thanks Dave. I'm an Akron boy myself. Born and raised there. Left in 67 for the Army and came back in 70. Moved down here in 98 and miss Akron a lot. Your last name seams familiar to me for some reason. I just can't place it. Old age I guess. Dan
59 Impala Posted February 25, 2018 Author Posted February 25, 2018 Thanks Carl. This was a fun build for me. Dan
NOBLNG Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 (edited) Nicely done Dan. Where did you get the Willys pickup? I want one! I sent you a PM. Edited February 26, 2018 by NOBLNG
geewhiz Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Very cool!!! I love the way you integrated the roof into the beltline and it looks much better than narrowing the roof. Over all, sweet kustom, Dan!!!?????????
59 Impala Posted February 26, 2018 Author Posted February 26, 2018 Thanks guys, much appreciated. Greg, I responded to your PM. Dan
olschoolkid Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Nice lead sled. These style Chevys are my favorite for customs.
geetee66 Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I like this a lot! The fade is spot-on and I love the tail-dragging stance. I agree with everyone else about those rear lights. They're excellent. R&M stuff is good.
