Fat Brian Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 This build was inspired by the steel wheels from the last issue of the Monogram 32 Ford roadster. I started figuring out what a Eldorado with steelies woukd look like, the lake pipes are from the 60 Starliner, the air cleaner is an old AMT part, and the flame decals are from the Revell 49 Mercury. Otherwise the build is stock out if the box, I lowered the car front and rear but left the rear up enough to get a nice rake. I didn't think I would ever get all the parts on this thing, the front bumper is 9 pieces, the rear bumper and tail lights total 17 pieces, the box just never seemed to get empty. 1
espo Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 I never realized how intricate the grill and bumpers are on this kit. Interesting Kustom style. I like the interior. You must have used half a sheet of foil on this build. I'm not a Flame person but you made them work on this Caddy.

What made it worse was that the paint is flat so it didn't stick very well but once you rubbed it down really good to cut it the adhesive stayed on the body so I had to rub it down with alcohol pads. I think I'm done with white paint jobs for a while. The interior is just a dead stock Cadillac pattern you could order from the factory, it fit the white and flames so we'll there wasn't any point in changing it.
Jon Cole Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 I love the '59 Caddy, my favorite car. You did it justice. You correctly painted around the headlight trim, often missed by others. And the steelies are a nice touch, with a vintage feel.
Erik Smith Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 I like it. I like the no style (or anything goes style) style.

That part of this kit could have been done much better, if I ever build another one in going to cut the painted parts off the grille piece and strip them and put them on the body before painting so it's a lot cleaner then foil the headlight bezels.
tbill Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Nice! I really like what you did with this kit. Having just finished one, I agree, takes a lot of foil, and the parts never seem to quit coming out of the box.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 This one is the very first non stock Cadillac I liked. I guess keeping the stock top has a lot to do with it. The car is low and long, chop the top and it will look like a book on wheels with fins.
Mahogany Rush Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Nice work and clean interior. Great job all around.
slusher Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Very very nice Brian. Love the stance and wheels!
fizi Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Man that looks awesome really good choice of colour with the white sits perfect with the flames, I really like the stance just kicking up slightly at the back nice job
