Michael jones Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Tamiya Mazda 787B - done. It was a big challenge, but I enjoyed the build. Mike
Nacho Z Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Love it!! It looks like you did an outstanding job on this one. I personally love doing decals. They certainly can be a challenge. How was this one as far as the decals fitting and settling down?
Michael jones Posted May 28, 2018 Author Posted May 28, 2018 Gidday, Thanks for the comments. The decals were not so bad (a couple I had trouble with). All the colours were painted on btw. The main issue is getting the body onto the chassis at the front (warped), and also the wheelbase or gap between wheel arches are different on each side which was tricky to fix.
Silver Foxx Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 This is really nice , with top class decal work , well done .
bbowser Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Challenge is an understatement, I thought Cup cars were hard! Great work.
FabbricaP Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Very very nice build. Great work on that paint scheme!
jchrisf Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 I love these style of cars and yours looks great... I almost purchased this one a few weeks ago but it is definitely still on my radar.
da_ashman Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 A fellow Jones & A fellow Kiwi!!! We Kiwis do love our rotaries! Great work, looks awesome!
Roncla Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 The rotary has got a following down under for sure. You've done that kit justice and it looks a treat. Its long overdue for Tamiya to re release that kit too.
Bill Eh? Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 A fantastic job on Mazda's "giant killer". i especially like the fact that all colour was painted. May I ask whose paint did you use? Zero, Gravity, Tamiya, or other? The colours look spot on!
Codi Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 Wish that were my build Michael. I'd forgotten that particular race car but you nailed it for sure. sweet!

Gidday, I used Gaianotes fluro orange (basecoat was Tamiya Orange - cant remember the number), Tamiya light green TS22, Tamiya black and Alclad ALC101 aluminium. Then 2k clear, decals and then 2k clear again. The colours suggested in the instructions are way off BTW. Regards Mike Edited May 31, 2018 by Michael jones
