I have several flatheads in the bin. i picked one as a base for another "Vintage Speed" item. It will get a Frenzel supercharger from Pico Elgin on Shapeways, finned heads from Ray's (Flat32) exquisite 3D printed engine and a Flamethrower magneto. Took pencil rubbings from Ray's block to transfer the exhaust port locations to the junk engine.

... and a Flamethrower magneto...

Nice project. Love those deck details.  :D

Just to clarify...the Flamethrower unit was a dual-point distributor, requiring two external coils, not a magneto.

Nice work here. In actuallity only about 12 or so of those Frenzel superchargers exist today.  I look forward to seeing this one completed. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Bill. I remember your earlier comments now that you bring them up.

Is this something you plan to put into a car, or just restoring it for funsies?

I like that 3D printed engine block, it's a good idea. I might have to try printing something like that one of these days. Excited to see how yours turns out.

Likely funsies. The 3D printed engine block is from Flat32, a member here, he makes some incredible stuff. Here is one of his threads :

Wow! His prints look much cleaner than mine often do, I guess I need to step up my game. He sure does seem to go all in for a "little detail" model. Definitely some good inspiration.

Added some details and belts.

This is the only picture I found with a fuel pump. Looks like it is on the same flange as the oil filler. Anyone know better?

Yes, some engines share the oil filler stand with the fuel pump drive. It's often a tricky bit of fiddling to get both located and still clear multiple carbs and a firewall. Sometimes fabrication is in order, so you can use a little imagination here...though it  looks like you have plenty of room for this style.

Ah OK, I have to make a flange on the side. I suppose I could get lazy and say it is an electric fuel pump and it isn't on the engine. -_-

Nobody said you couldn't be comfortable.

Completed the wiring. Maybe I should have put the coils in front, I wonder if those long cables would be less efficient. Now I have to paint this without going outside the lines.
