Maybe my meds from my recent surgery are making me cranky but the USPS are about useless . I ordered some parts from R&M and as usual Norm got them out fairly quickly and sent them priority signature. They were supposed to be delivered last Saturday. I happened to be in the hospital for emergency Gallbladder surgery so my son was to be there to sign for the parts. My son is disabled and isn't able to move very quickly. The letter carrier knocked on the door and it took a minute or two for my son the answer the door. When he got there the postman was one house away and my son hollered at him and asked if he could come back, he just threw a arm in the air and said no. (rant #1). I went thru the online USPS site for redelivery to get it delivered as per instructions  and set up a time on the third, Nothing showed up. Resubmitted for a drop off the fifth and still no show. We have confirmations on both redeliveries. (rant#2). I would sure like to get my parts for my build.

Sorry Rant over

Hope you get better soon from your surgery. And sorry to hear about your trouble with your USPS carrier. And to have two more no shows is unacceptable in my book also. Hope they get your parts to you soon. My carrier leaves a treat for my dog every day he is on rout, and if we are on the porch when he comes back down the other side of the street. He crosses over to come and pet the dog and give her another treat. Chats for a minute then back on his way. Nice guy !

Hope you get better service in the future.

Did you ask for a signature delivery?  All of the priority mailings I have ever gotten there was no need for a signature,it was just delivered.

Last several deliveries, the person on MY route has been leaving things IN THE DRIVEWAY. ON THE GROUND. There is a covered porch that they've always left things on in the past, so I don't know what this latest idiocy is. Unfortunately, I didn't get to the last one before a downpour drenched it, ruining the NOS packaging of the items inside.

I REALLY HATE STUPID.

I must be lucky, my regular postman is the old school variety who will stop and exchange friendly chit chat if I'm out in the yard when he delivers the mail. I've rarely had issue with the USPS, but I've lived in smaller communities the last 20 years where I actually have some familiarity with the postmaster and most of the employees at the local PO.

Sounds more like a "carrier" issue than a USPS one.

You just happen to have a carrier who is a dick head!

I've always had very good luck with my carriers.

Always willing to accommodate in any way they can.

I find it especially egregious that when your son asked if he would come back, he refused.

That's just stupid!!

It's because of guys like this that nobody has a lot of sympathy for the USPS when they start having problems & expect us to feel sorry for them.

If it wasn't for the fact that USPS carriers are union workers working for the government and are basically immune from being canned for infractions like this, I would call my local post office and tear them a new one.

But, chances are that it will do you no good.

There is something to be said for living in a small town where the postal workers are neighbors and everybody knows one & other.

I don't believe that there are any more than about 4 employees at my post office.

I would not hesitate to call my post office If there were a problem, & I'm quite confident that they would work with me to resolve any issues, even though I have only lived here for about a year.

They are all very friendly and helpful people.

Maybe it's just a Midwest thing. B)

A couple weeks ago a friend bought me a package from Omaha Steaks and paid for 2 day shipping. It took UPS 4 days to deliver the box.The dry ice was gone and all the food was defrosted and warm. I tossed it all. My friend had no trouble getting Omaha Steaks to send out a new one.

Ten years ago, there was a temp carrier delivering mail on my block. At the same time he began working the route, my Workers' Compensation checks weren't arriving. The insurance carrier for the company I worked for at the time refused to direct deposit them, saying they didn't direct deposit WC payments. I called the insurer and told them my checks weren't arriving. I got a bunch of happy horsepoop from them and was told they were sent out. This was going on for nine weeks. One afternoon, I went to check my mailbox and saw the carrier with his girlfriend who, for whatever reason, always accompanied him. I asked about my checks and he told me to ask somebody who gives a flying ****. I looked at him and said I ought to smack his head off his shoulders for being a smartass. I went upstairs and called the Postmaster for Brooklyn and told her about the situation. She put me in touch with the Postal Police and they placed a surveillance team on the carrier. BANG! One afternoon, they tailed him to a nearby cash checking place where he tried to cash not only all of my missing checks (over $11,000 up to that point), but another 22grand in Social Security checks stolen from a woman in my building.

I hope they fried his ass!

What a douche!!

Talking with somebody familiar with this dope, he's doing a 17 1/2 - 25 year concurrent stretch for theft and possession of stolen government instruments, mail theft, possession of stolen checks and forgery in your neck of the woods at Sandstone FCI. Don't bend over to pick up the soap, slick. :D

Shipped a box to Quebec, which the USPS sent to ITALY, where it's been sitting for about 3 weeks now. Talk to the USPS, they say it'll get sent back "eventually".

Ordered models from Model Roundup in Atlanta a while back.. was checking the tracking info a couple days later, it was in a USPS facility in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Was then delivered a couple days later.   Why would a package going from Atlanta to the Cleveland, Oh area go to the West Coast??

Same reason my Quebec box is in Italy, a human somewhere along the way missorted it. Or when it was riding the belts it was too close to another package going to the wrong place and both got shoved off into the rolling stock for California.

Within the USPS anything requiring coast to coast priority flies with FedEx.

One of the oddest USPS experiences I had was last year, an eBay purchase in Illinois came to Columbus, OH then to Akron OH, then to Cleveland..was delivered to my local post office, then back to Cleveland, then to Akron then back to Cleveland...then repeated the back and forth 3 more times over a week until it finally got back to my local post office.  Nothing was wrong w/ the address on the package.  Very odd..

Shipping woes are being compounding. I have had packages shipped FedX and UPS that was transferred to USPS . The last one started out in California, came north and actually stopped here in Portland (2 days) then went up to Spokane then did a couple bounces around Washington state, then transferred to USPS where it came back to Portland. This was about a 10 day tour of the PNW.

In fairness, I should say I've really had very few problems with USPS. The thing is though, when something seems to be reliable, something you can count on, when it suddenly goes all stupid specifically BECAUSE OF stupid, it's especially annoying.

That's just nuts-no excuse for that.
