Starting this as well today. @Snake45 gave me some good advice on the crushed a-pillar. Since it turned out acceptable, we’ll get to building. I’ve never seen so much extra plastic

You think that is bad, I got an AMT Gravel trailer for a truck. I took it with me on a job where I stayed in a hotel. I worked on it several days just sanding all the flash and extra plastic off. When the maid came in the next day I am sure she thought that I had had a Cocaine party in there, everything was covered in white powder. I could have melted it down and poured car model out of all the flash and junk they left behind.

Is that the old Revell kit? I have one in the stash, but it's molded in black.

Definitely not the Tamiya kit, which is on my bench right now.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!

The box is stamped Fujimi MRC. I’m not even sure what color to paint it. I haven’t even started and I’m kind of “over it”. Lol. Not a good attitude.

Thanks man. I'm leaning toward a beige with the two tone (darker lowers) and a brown interior... something I'd never buy in real life.

I'm surprised to see that much flash from a Fujimi kit! :o

I have two of those from Tamiya and that would be woefully unacceptable! Just the same, I've never had much trouble putting together any of Fujimi's kits, and that was some of the tougher ones like their Enthusiasts Series versions.

This should go together pretty easily without a lot of drama............just that flash can be a pain to get rid of, especially around tiny parts!

When MRC is involved, theres ALWAYS a TON of flash.....even their wheels & tyre sets!

Good point. Maybe silver with black. Thanks for the reality check.

LMAO......you're funny!!

I struggle with color on my street car builds. I feel like I gravitate towards black and red. I need to change it up but those are my favorite real life colors.

Maybe we all have that tendency? Certain kolors look the best on certain cars.....German cars for example, look their best in different shades/ variations of grays, charcoals, and blacks...I know I tend to gravitate to certain kolors, but I too, try to add more kolor to my collection......sometimes theres nothing for it, and before you know it, theres that kolor again!!...lmao   -I tend to gravitate to blacks, and grays......probably because our family is from Germany....lol

Body is primed and generically painted black inside. Chassis is black and I’ve primed all the other parts (not shown). I really need to settle on a color I like. Time to scour the interwebs.

Don't paint it red, everyone does *that*.   The last Benz I built, used MB touchup paint, a pretty ruby metallic.  Do something different, no rules say it has to be silver (everybody does *that*).

Mmmm. Color. Seems like a period correct blue...although I’m not 100% sure this car was offered in this color.

If it was, or it wasn't, its YOUR work of art, and you can do it ANY way you like!!…...looks fantastic!!

Annnnd my gloss messed up the blue. I guess I start over again ?. Appropriately I’ll be using genuine Mercedes Benz brake fluid to strip it. ?

Tamiya blue with a Duplicolor gloss. I’ve used the gloss before with good results but not this time. I’m sticking to matching brands from now on.

Matching paint/gloss brands always works. I've used Tamiya clear gloss from the rattle can over Testors Model Master and Model Car World rattle can paints and never gotten any trouble. Never tried Duplicolor products though. Anyways, good luck and keep the WIP updates comin!

I think MB brake fluid is DOT4 which is synthetic, I don't think it will have any effect on your paint.

You'll need to use good old fashioned DOT3 which is organic in nature and will take off paint.
