Railroad station diorama in 1/25

OK, here's something different. I was asked to build a model of the PRR railroad station located in my home town of Centre Hall, PA to be exhibited at our fair, called the Grange Fair. I did it in 1/25 scale so I could use model cars and trucks on the diorama. It's big! The building is about 42" long. It's made with foamboard walls with basswood siding. Windows were built up from styrene angles and strips (took several days ). Roofing is plastic sheets made for G scale train layouts. The track, loco, and box car are G scale units. I found that "G scale" varies quite a bit. The loco is a bit small, but no one seemed to notice at the fair. Some of the vehicle models are survivors from the 1960's. The woody, Model T tub, and 32 Chevy panel were built by me back then. The diorama base is 3'x5' Styrofoam insulation. Track ballast and gravel is cat litter. Diorama time period is the mid-1930's. It was a fun project, but a lot of work over about 8 months. Next time I'll make something smaller!

Impressive work on your building Sam, and this project has clearly gone down well at the show. I noticed three of the figures are from the ICM Henry Ford set, which I have used in my diorama because these figures are so good.... the engineer, the businessman and Henry Ford himself. You look proud of your achievement, and rightly so too.

Sharp eye, David! I picked those figures because of the period clothing, which looks like it could be from the teens to mid 1930's time. They are good figures!

Those figures are 1910's Sam, but absolutely period correct for your diorama, and somehow they do seem to work for my 1950's diorama too. There is one set from ICM that has the three figures only, and a further set that also includes a Model T Ford motor car.
