Well, after almost 8 full months I have finished the TAT entry. You can see much of the build progress in the build thread area. I am happy with the results. I grew up in Oregon and live in Washington and so these trucks are a big part of my growing up years, they were everywhere. I wanted a truck like they drove when I was a kid, nice shinny, pride of the driver type truck. Some of the trucks I saw looked like show trucks. Others looked like they dragged them from the bottom of the ocean.

Anyway, I started with the Cali Pete kit and found a log trailer on E-bay. The interiors of these trucks are terrible. The tub is tapered badly, so I scratch built a new tub that fits tight in the cab. I made custom door panels with arm rests, door cranks and pleats. Being a log truck I had to extend the frame by abut 1.5in. to give it the tail it needed. The chain box bottom is cut out and screen added to represent the mesh it would have. Exhaust stacks were cut off and replaced with Aluminum tubing cut at an angle. I added chains and cables to the cradles and rack. I also replaced the mirrors with scratch built wire frames, the kit ones are so thick, they look way out of scale. A little BMF on the hood center and the air cleaner tube and thats about it.

Hope you like it. It was fun to build this very old re-pop kit for the first time. I could never afford it when I was a kid.
