StevenGuthmiller Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if anybody knew of someone who produces the GT stripe decals for the '69 Galaxie GT? I never realized that the '69 Ford could look this good! Steve
Bucky Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 I got a set of these from Keith Marks: http://public.fotki.com/mofobow/ford/galaxie/69_galaxie_xl_gt/69_ford_xl_gt_black.html I don't remember how to contact him. I grabbed mine off eBay. I'll check to see if I can come with contact info.
RichCostello Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 (edited) Could that be a custom stripe on that red beauty? I don't remember seeing a stripe like that on a Galaxie. But now after seeing Bucky's post, I could be wrong. Edited October 6, 2018 by RichCostello
Deuces Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 I never knew Ford made such a beast..... They must be pretty rare.....

Bucky Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 (edited) Very cool cars, with a 429, no less! I've seen one at a cruise-in that was a white Sportroof with red stripes, and red interior. Very impressive in person. Edited October 6, 2018 by Bucky
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 6, 2018 Author Posted October 6, 2018 I've had an AMT '69 Galaxie in my stash for years but never really had much interest in building it. But I could get interested in this GT option! Only problem is, if I were to build it, I would then feel obligated to try and find a '68 to do a GT version of that as well! Steve
Bucky Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Nice one, Steve! Go for it! The big Fords were sharper than some of us realized, it seems! LOL
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 6, 2018 Author Posted October 6, 2018 I think that if I built one, it might have to be this color. "Indian Fire". Steve
Bucky Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 That's a beauty! Stands out from the crowd! Here is Keith Marks' contact info: mofobow@hotmail.com
Motor City Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 The XL GT was also an option in 1970. The 7 Litre (428) was available in 1966 and 1967. The 427 was optional from 1963-1967 on the big Ford. I saw a rusted out '67 7 Litre in Dearborn once, but have never seen a '67 big Ford 427. I saw an article on a '67 Galaxie 427 with factory 4-speed, and it was mentioned that at least one LTD that year had the same engine and trans.
Deuces Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 (edited) I think the 428 was also available in '68....... Edited October 6, 2018 by Deuces
THarrison351 Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 This is like my all time favorite model of Ford. Most people don't even know about Galaxie XL GTs. I have a set of decals from Kieth Marks to complete a 69 XL GT and a set of hubcaps from a Shelby Mustang.

Missing Link Resin does the wheelcovers you need. You will have to modify the centers to be accurate. Edited October 7, 2018 by Ron Hamilton
Deuces Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 Or maybe use the magnum 500 wheels... From a Boss 429 pony kit....

Motor City Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 I forgot to mention that Palmer (yes, THAT Palmer) made a '70 XL GT kit with a multi-piece body.

BigTallDad Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Note that this has what was called the "Sport Roof", where the sides of the roof extended past the rear of the window. There was also a "Formal Roof" that was your basic everyday rounded roof. I had one of each right after I "graduated" from the Army in '69.
Deathgoblin Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 One of the companies needs to make a modern kit of that. Very Sharp!

Falcon Ranchero Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Do they have the red stripes decals or is it just the white and black? The black one with the red stripes is so totally what I'd build
