landman Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 (edited) As if I didn't have enough things on the go, here I am starting another one. When I built my '34 Chevrolet 5WC to replicate my 1:1, I had acquired two Danbury Mint 35 Chevy convertibles. I used one in the '34 build and traded the chassis of the other one for something. I was looking at what was left of it the other day and figured I may as well use it in something. Turns out I had a gluebomb '32 Ford. It will provide the chassis. So I went at it. The wheel base is obviously incorrect on the Ford chassis. So I did a bit of a mockup to determine the wheelbase. Then I toyed with suspensions from the parts bin. A Nascar rear and an IFS might just work. I might even keep the Nascar wheels but narrow the track a bit. Edited October 28, 2020 by landman
espo Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Looks like a great project. I think the front suspension should be mounted with the sway Bar toward the front.

landman Posted November 5, 2018 Author Posted November 5, 2018 (edited) Looks like in order to have the spindles in the right location the sway bar would have to be in the rear or non existant. Luclily I found the original beam axle that was on the one I used to do my '34. I'll try to make this work. Edited October 28, 2020 by landman
landman Posted November 7, 2018 Author Posted November 7, 2018 (edited) Pinned the frame to the body so it stayed in place while remaining removable. This has got to be the most contrived suspension in history. Edited October 28, 2020 by landman
landman Posted November 8, 2018 Author Posted November 8, 2018 (edited) It turns out there was only one headlight. These driving lights from a big classic will do. Found a windshield in the classics parts bin. Just sitting there loose here. Edited October 28, 2020 by landman
landman Posted November 8, 2018 Author Posted November 8, 2018 (edited) There it is, 35 Chevy with Ford wheels & frame, Nascar rear suspension and wheels and borrowed headllights and windshield. Edited October 28, 2020 by landman
Gramps46 Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Very creative save, well done. Is that a bicycle in the back? Would love to see more of it. Been looking for one.

Looks like it was part of a kit. Banana seat, skateboard and a roll.

Sorry did not want to highjack your thread with bicycles but I do appreciate your help. Edited November 8, 2018 by Gramps46

Anglia105E Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Pat..... now that is really interesting about the vintage bicycle, and by the way your save of the 35 Chevy with Ford wheels & frame is clever stuff! The bicycle I have in my diorama is a Shapeways lady's bicycle, which I do like, apart from the wheel spokes being a bit too thick. For some time now I have been looking at the Fujimi Garage Set on Ebay and thinking the bicycle is just what I need, but £26.00 GBP just for the man's bicycle is a bit expensive. It is a very accurate bicycle having said that. David
