Oh please someone's got to take a cult classic like Scarface and try and do a remake. No way,the original was so good, that's why its called a cult classic.Just leave it alone. It would be like doing a remake of Jaws,or even worse,The Godfather.

I've never seen a good remake of any movies. At least none that I can remember.

I can think of one that was much, MUCH better than the original: Ocean's Eleven. The original was one of the worst movies I've ever seen, maybe even THE worst.. The remake was pretty entertaining.

The remake of The Getaway wasn't horrible. It wasn't nearly as good as the original, but it was surprisingly Not Awful. I've seen it three times and would watch it again. (Have seen the original a dozen times or more and WILL watch it again.)

I never saw the original True Grit (okay, I'm a bad person), but I did see the remake and liked it a lot. Thought it was a pretty good movie.

Yea your right, the newer Oceans Eleven was much better than the first one.Im talking about movies, also like The Inlaws, with (Alan Arkin,& Peter Falk),Going in Style, with George Burns,Art Carney, when they rob a bank. And The Out of Towner's with Jack Lemmon..I know the originals are pretty old flicks, but they were absolutely hilarious.I can watch them over and over..Then I remember I tried watching the remakes, and I couldn't even make it through the whole movies:o.

Umm........ Pacino's Scarface was, in essence, a remake itself. The original Scarface was released in 1932 and starred Paul Muni as Antonio "Tony" Camonte and portrayed Al "Scarface" Capone's life.

Tony and the original "Little Friend"

No I do realize that Scarface was a remake of the film in 32.But that was just a little before my time:lol:.And both movies were not similar at all, besides the name Scarface.

"Going in style" with Freeman, Caine and Arkin, besides being well written these three actors are standouts in their own wright and together their acting was very convincing.

IMHO Father of the Bride (remake) was far better than the Original movie. Sometimes remakes are better, but not always. (IE The Dukes of Hazzard Re-make's) Like finding the General Lee under water with 01 and all on it ? I watched the show and who ever wrote the Dukes of hazzard the beggining  movie sure didn't watch the show. The General was a stolen Black 69 charger used by diamond thieves, and forced into a ditch by Capital city police. The Duke boy's bought it at a salvage yard, Brought home by Lukes ford Pickup (Brown Ford F-100 or 150) The engine was already on the farm. The only paint Cooter had was a lovely shade of redish Orange as he said.

Yea I have to agree with Father of the Bride. The remake was hysterical. But then again, almost any movie with Steve Martin is funny.

I agree the original Getaway is the best but they did a great job on the remake and stayed with the story line.. I own both...

I think the remake of the Last House on the Left remake was far better then the original.

I'm just the opposite--I saw the original decades ago and had no idea it had been remade.

The new one is suspenseful, sick, scary, and brutal.

So was the original! Definitely the sickest thing I'd ever seen up to that time.

The microwave part at the end of The Last House on the Left, was pretty sick.If we are talking about the same movie where a girl is shot and raped by a group. She is able to get away. Then the group's truck is damaged. They find a house, and wind up staying over during a rain storm. They don't realize that the girl they shot and raped lives in that house. The girl barely makes it home. She is treated by her father, who is a doctor. Then the parents figure out that the group staying over in the guest house, are the ones that tried to kill and raped their daughter..Then the father and mother get some sweet lasting and brutal revenge on the group.Sort of like Straw Dogs, but much better. Its not scary or even that violent in my opinion. With the exception of some parts..And it's funny, people couldn't stay and watch the whole original movie because they said that the violence, and gore was too much to handle.Wes Craven made the first 1972 film.I never knew that.Actually like I said,I never realized it was a remake..I have yet to see the original.

"Gone 60 Seconds".......liked the remake better

Why did you like the (loosely-based) remake better ?

No Bullitt remake , PLEASE!

I couldn't agree more . The original is untouchable ! Besides , can you imagine how those pearl-clutchers in San Francisco would react to that these days ? Hahahaha !

Some 80s remakes I like a lot:  'No Way Out', never seen the original (The Big Clock, 1948).  'Against All Odds', the original 'Out of The Past' was quite good also.  'DOA' (never seen the original).

I prefer the original 'Vanishing Point' over the remake.   I like the original 'Magnificent Seven' over the remake, though I like the 'True Grit' remake more than the original.   I like the original 'Get Carter' more than the remake.  I like the original 'Italian Job' over the remake.

I like both the original 'Insomnia' and the remake, probably the original a bit more.

One of the most remade films of all time must be Rio Bravo. It was remade as both El Dorado and Rio Lobo, but (IMHO, of course) its best remake was as John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13.  AP13 was remade in 2005, but before that, Jim Wynorski did a real low-budget remake with an almost all-female cast called The Assault. The first The Purge movie was also a remake of it, and I've heard that Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars was, too, though I've never seen it so can't really say. I've also seen elements of it come up on The Walking Dead.

Didn't see the remake of The Magnificent Seven but I'd like to. I'm a big fan of the original. Some great lines in there: "Solving your problems isn't our line." "We deal in lead, friend." I would LOVE to see Magnificent Seven remade in a modern, urban setting. I think it would work great. How has somebody NOT ever pitched that to Samuel L. Jackson?
