Snake45 Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 I'll bet it would never occur to you to go about it like this. The end result is absolutely astonishing.
OldTrucker Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 That was just how the one at the sod farm I worked for fell! The bands are what causes it to do that. We coiled cable around the bottom about half way up the first section three times and then used a Cat 988 loaded to pull cable tight. At first looked like it was just going to settle down and stay upright but then slowly started that slide as it started to crumble! Those old silos were built to last 100+ years!
espo Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 I remember seeing these and others on YouTube on this subject. The men in these two videos seem to know what they're doing. Some of the others you just know it is not going to end well and it's like watching a train wreak in slow motion.
unclescott58 Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 (edited) I like the silo video. Ending definitely made it worth watching. The second video is too longggggggggggg. Edited December 26, 2018 by unclescott58

The whole video is available. It just takes awhile to get to the end result.A guy banging away at the foundation is a bit boring. But it's the result, and the way that it falls, that is obviously the best part.I thought it was hilarious.

You can easily skip from point to point on youtube videos. No need to watch the whole thing.
Ace-Garageguy Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 For some strange reason, that repeating video loop reminds me of being a much younger man...
