landman Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Seen on my snowshoe walk this afternoon. Woody is obviously still at it despite his sizeable royalties from Thrush Mufflers.
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 (edited) Man...that must be one serious badmofo woodpecker. Edited January 5, 2019 by Ace-Garageguy
NYLIBUD Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Oh Come on,no bird did that.It looks like some good ole boys were bored with their shot guns, and decided to do some target practice.

Oh but they can! Had one drill a hole through the siding on one of our houses some years back! They can be very destructive! I hate the dumb ones that try and peck holes in metal downspouts!

But I'm told they drill where they hear insects munching, so John might have had some insects in his siding. Happened to a friend of mine where they drilled though cedar siding on his cottage and pulled out some insulation. He found tufts of fiberglass wool poking out here and there ewhen he went to his cottage one spring.
Rodent Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 My house originally had a wood shake roof. They would get up there and peck and it would sound like someone at the door. Haven't had that issue since we have had the concrete tile "shakes" installed though.
