Some oddball thing I found well surfing the web. This automatically made me laugh (it would be even funnier if this was a big block car). A man after my own heart, I love it!
W Humble Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Not quite as funny, but I knew a guy who built A.) A '39 Chevy with a c. 1956 MoPar A-series (273, I think) V-8, and 2.) a Datsun 240Z with a Chevy 235-six. Something out of synch, here; maybe he got them mixed up in the darK? Not bad builds, and he doted on 'em, claimed the '39 was real fast. However, putting a stove-bolt iron six in a Z was not good strategy; more cubes sure, but more weight than a SBC, even. I once considered putting a '75 280Z L-28 six in our '51 Chevy two door, however; had the engine almosf free from a total that had been running good (too good!) and... well, I didn't! Wick
W Humble Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Might have been a six-banger. like my sis's '67. About ten years later, it needed a valve job (?) and she let it go for $750! I begged for first refusal, too! Oh well... Flatheads have their place, but not where more sophisticated, more powerful engines lived! I considered putting an OCH Datsun L-28 (290Z engine) I had into our old '51 Chevy Syline, though; smaller but much higher hp, and still good torque. Got 197, then 250, then 350 instead! Wick

I recall over 10 years ago, a regular member of the Corvette Forum posted a photo of a C2 Vette with a flathead engine. Photo was not the members car but one at a car show he attended. Here is a recent post on the Corvette Forum of a C3 Vette powered by a flathead... https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c3-general/4781848-not-just-another-ford-in-a-chevy.html Since I am a member of the Corvette Forum the photos and thread displays fine. So in case some of you have issues seeing the photos of this Flatty powered C3, I snagged the photos from the site and uploaded here. These are NOT my photos or thread. NOBLNG Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 I’m sure that stimulates a lot of conversation at car shows.?
NOBLNG Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 Here is some info on manifolds. I posted it in the general section, but it may be more helpful here. https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/1048srp-ford-flathead-intake-manifold-collection/

Rattlecan Dan Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 I used some of the references offered to help me with this '34 build. 2
RIXprints Posted March 22 Posted March 22 I go there often to fine tune my builds. This twin engine set-up is copied from a dragster built in the 50s.

carsntrucks4you Posted Thursday at 07:15 PM Posted Thursday at 07:15 PM Another excellent source with information about flathead is The Flat-Spot. A few information are only applicable for Premium members but where can you get brochure, drawing etc.
carsntrucks4you Posted Thursday at 07:18 PM Posted Thursday at 07:18 PM While speak about Flatheads you have to know something about Ardun heads
