MrObsessive Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I was being nosy on the "other board" for a second and the first post I had seen caught my eye about new box art for the soon to be rereleased '60 Ford. It was done by our own Jairus Watson, and I've got to say he totally outdid himself! This is one of the nicest box art designs I have seen in a loooong time! If this doesn't move the plastic off the shelves.......nothing will! Thanks Jairus, this is just the shot in the arm AMT needs! I'm going to buy one simply for the box art alone......it's THAT good!
george 53 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I agree Bill, Those are certainly some beautiful renderings, they'd make a kid buy it just for lookin at the pics! THEN they'd see what a great kit it is! If ol Jarius is doin the artwork, THAT alone will draw kids into the hobby!" I bought the model caz I liked the picture on the box" Gret work Jarius! You go boy!
84vanagon Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 YEAH! The other board mentioned that the narrow white stripe Firestone Supremes will be back too!!
crispy Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 (edited) I believe I read that Brad Leisure was the box art designer on the 60 Ford, not Jarius (sorry). Although I did see Jarius' signature on the Trumpeter 1/12 scale Ford GT-40 box art over at SA. Chris Edited August 31, 2008 by crispy
samdiego Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I am upright, vertical and clapping. Awesome box with equally awesome insides.
Joe Handley Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 (edited) dang.....Makes me want to buy one......... Good Job to whoever did it! Edited August 31, 2008 by Joe Handley

I stand corrected ...............I hadn't checked the thread since I originally saw it to see that! So there IS going to be a 1/12 GT40 from Trumpeter? I wonder though is it all original tooling from them (look out!), or was it "borrowed" from GMP?
gasman Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 that box art is excellent and that kit is a must buy for me because I don't have any 60 Starliners. still kicking myself for passing on them when they where $5.99 at Wal-Mart
LVZ2881 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 That is GREAT box art!!!!! we need more box art like that!!! I'm in for 2 atleast!!!
crispy Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Bill, I have no idea if it's all new tooling or borrowed. Here's Jarius' work though: I checked out the SA thread again and now see that it is locked. Jim apparently didn't care for the people wondering if the kit was in fact due to come out. Anyway, I like the art here (and it is Ford approved btw.) Great work Jarius. Chris
Jairus Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 This one is mine.... But thanks anyway Bill! All new tool and probably pretty expensive!
Harry P. Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 That's not done in your usual style. I wouldn't have guessed that it was your work! Oh wait, there's the signature...
John E. Bowers Jr. Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 This one is mine.... But thanks anyway Bill! All new tool and probably pretty expensive! I'll take two just for the box... That art looks good, man!
MrObsessive Posted August 31, 2008 Author Posted August 31, 2008 Now that is some great box art!! Nice and bright artwork, and a good representation of what's in the box! Let's just hope Trumpeter gets it right and doesn't screw this one up! For what they might be charging (I'm guessing north of $150) they'd better get it right! Maybe if we're (and they) are good we'll get a '69 LeMans winner car out of 'em?
george 53 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 OOO Jarius, your not kiddin, just noticed that it's a Trumpeter kit in 1/12th! your right, it's probably gonna be a bit more than the Bonneville or Nova kits! Their 1/24th aircraft kits are quite expensive too. But, man, are they nice! this ones probably gonna be a killer! Great artwork, BTW.
