Has anyone ever combined part's of the two kits to make a 1950 Tudor? I know there is different gas openings ,trunk hinges rear license / trunk trim. How about using the roof from a 49 and plunking it on the 50 convertible body? I'm getting going on modeling as we.moved into a different house... I have the convertible kit already...... thanks....

I know that this isn't what you asked, but I want to point out that the AMT kit isn't a Tudor sedan (bottom), it's a Custom Club Coupe (top).

I stretched the roof of a 49 Coupe to make a 50 Sedan using measurements from my cousin's 1:1 50 Sedan. It's not difficult to do. I kept the 50 trunk hinges but haven't messed with the rest because it will be a VERY mild custom.

Quite doable if you lengthened the roof in the right place; I remember the Modelhaus (and possibly another caster) made a beautiful conversion body for the '50 Crestliner two-door sedan.

I had a conversion started for the Turnupseed '50 coupe and can at least say everything lined up.

First let me say that the conversion done by Modlbidr has got to be the best home grown conversion I have seen. If you can find one of the Modelhaus resin castings grab it. At one time they even offered a Crestiner with a simulated vinyl roof. An easier way around all this to create a two door Sedan check out Star Models. They have a presents here on the forum under Resin/After Market. There is a list of many different suppliers there and I have one of the Star two door kits to recreate the '51 Ford tudoor I had in my wasted youth.

I would like to duplicate the club coupe, only make it a 1950. I thought since the convertible body has the windshield separate it would make it a little easier...the club coupe has better line's to it.....

Thank you very much for the kind words. Without, hopefully, getting a swelled head, I am very proud of how it turned out. It helped to be able to get the measurements from the 1:1. Now if I could just get off my lazy butt and finish it.

To make the '49 Club Coupe into a '50 model all you need is the grill from the convertible kit and create the rear license plate cover. I have done the rear license plate cover on a few builds since I like the looks of it better. The '49 year model Trunk handle was little more than that, a handle. On the 1:1 the key lock is on the right side of the handle. When unlocked the right side handle lifts up to open the trunk. On the '50 year model Ford replaced the handle setup with a body part that contained the light for the license plate and the chrome strip on the edge has the key lock in it. After unlocking the trunk the latch handle is just to the right of center underneath. The reason for the additional information is only to help you know what all this was for. I have found that working on a model of a 1:1 car that I'm not familiar some of these details are hard to understand.  IF you're really going for the dead on stock look there are a few easily missed details. The '50 had a Ford crest instead of the FORD lettering at the center of the hood. The hood ornament has the clear plastic at the top ending just before the 90 degree angle to the hood while the '49 extends further and is angled forward. The '50 kit has the correct shape so that would be the solution on that. I hope this will help you with your '50 Ford build.

What I did was take the Deville roof from the 50 Convert and blend it in with the front half of the 49's roof and made a 2dht phantom.

I plan on using a resin Vicky hardtop roof on the 50 to make a 50 Crown Vick. phantom

Ford  did not produce a 2drht until 51
