3D Printed wheel from HRE

For a mere $2000 , HRE will sell you one of these wheels made of 3D printed titanium.

Apparently it weighs a little under 20 pounds.  It looks almost too delicate to do the job, but I guess they know what they're doing.

Yeah I wouldn't want to hit a pothole with one of those. Or try to wash them!

There should be no problems with these - titanium is very strong and light.

Wow that is cool looking. HRE are a premier builder. If they are selling it, the engineering has been done. THey are not one of those wheels companies that are all look, no substance.

How do you "print" titanium?  I can see machining it, but not squirting it out like with plastic.

Apparently they were working with GE's Additive division and their 3D printers.

Wow, that's really high tech!  Basically laser welding a pile of titanium dust.
