Scale-Master Posted October 2, 2021 Author Posted October 2, 2021 I went ahead and printed and added the labels for the switches.
Scale-Master Posted October 5, 2021 Author Posted October 5, 2021 I machined the flange to mount the steering wheel to the shaft. I also made the crush sleeve and horn button.
Scale-Master Posted October 7, 2021 Author Posted October 7, 2021 I machined the collar and mounting hardware for the steering shaft guide in the dash.
Scale-Master Posted October 8, 2021 Author Posted October 8, 2021 The bracket to mount the fire extinguisher to the floor. I guess I could have just glued it in place… well, no I couldn't do that… Sheet brass cut and shaped. The strap is vinyl.
absmiami Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 wait you're not gluing the strap to the cockpit floor, are you ?? "the torture never stops" Frank Zappa ...

Scale-Master Posted October 10, 2021 Author Posted October 10, 2021 The hard coolant lines from the radiator to the side pods are reworked parts from the kit, the left side being relocated to the top of the modified radiator and bent up much more than the right. The silicone connector hoses are made of brass. The hose clamps are tin and I machined the worm drives from aluminum. Dry fitted together.
Scale-Master Posted October 18, 2021 Author Posted October 18, 2021 The finished radiator. The stone guard screen is 0.002 thick PE. The "plastic" fasteners for it are machined aluminum as are the mounting bosses. The petcock is aluminum and steel, machined and made of 3 pieces.
Mike C Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 You sure have some outstanding detail work there! 1
Scale-Master Posted October 20, 2021 Author Posted October 20, 2021 I made the upper hold-down bracket from five pieces of hand formed .010 sheet brass.

Big John Posted October 21, 2021 Posted October 21, 2021 A Masters Class on how to make the humble fire extinguisher. Just got here, must go back and see the rest. Thanks! 1
Scale-Master Posted October 24, 2021 Author Posted October 24, 2021 The transmission cooler is made from the kit parts but they were modified. Same for the brackets. The mounting hardware was machined from aluminum. Line fittings will be added later.
Scale-Master Posted October 27, 2021 Author Posted October 27, 2021 The spokes of the steering wheel were done with a black base and transparent blue mixed with smoke and clear to get the shade of anodized aluminum I wanted. (They are the only part that's not aluminum.) I made the little fasteners out of a steel pin.
absmiami Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 Transparent blue smoke clear ok - gotta try this - 1
Scale-Master Posted October 28, 2021 Author Posted October 28, 2021 The suede rim was done with pearl black pigment added to acrylic flat black.
JohnnyK Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 (edited) There is no way that this is a model car. I think that you are building a 1:1 car from scratch. Can I drive it when you are finished? Edited October 29, 2021 by JohnnyK 1
Scale-Master Posted November 4, 2021 Author Posted November 4, 2021 I designed the fuel regulator in SolidWorks. I have the real part to work from.
