I asked about 4x4 parts to convert a 66 Suburban.

The description for this section says- have a specific question(I did)need help(I did)want suggestions(I do)looking for answers(yeah, that's why I ask questions). Seems like I've seen other truck related questions here, that weren't moved. So, now my question is in the Truck Stop section where most of the topics are about Big Rigs. Not being a Big Rig builder, I rarely even look at the Truck Stop section. Don't get me wrong, I think the Big Rig models are very cool, I just think most members are into 4 wheeled vehicles(like 66 Suburbans).

Could someone please start an argument, I think the Mods might have too much time on their hands!

Nobody's ever satisfactorily explained or showed any justification as to why a thread on the AMT Hydro Boat is even allowed to stay in "Car Kits and Reviews". It's a boat. No wheels. No doors. Wassup wi'dat?

I'm with Rich on this one.

I build a lot of light trucks... pickups, vans and such.  I'd like to see them included with the car topics and not banished over to the truck category with big rigs.  That's a genre all it's own!

And where do we draw the line?  Is this a rat rod or a truck?

I can top that (for once). There's currently a thread down in the Diecast and Resin Models section on a Lego submarine. It's not diecast. It's not resin. It's not even really a model. Wassup dat? :unsure:

I'm with you, Tom. The other day Tim Boyd started a thread on all of his way-cool roadster pickup rods. Within hours it had been banished down to the truck stop side of town, where it won't get half the views it deserves.

Go figure, Rich. :D  How would you pigeonhole anything made with a Gilbert Erector Set?

The decision to move or allow a post to remain in a particular sub-forum seems somewhat arbitrary at times. If someone posts a thread about an Amphicar model in "Car Kits & reviews", would it stay there or get moved to "All The Rest" because it can be operated in water, like a boat?

No matter where a topic is posted, someone is going to complain about it. If we leave it, we'll get PMs about it being in the wrong place. If we move it, we get PMs about it being in the wrong place.

You would all be shocked at the number of threads that get reported to us about being in the wrong place.

There are only 4 of us, and this is not our day job. We see a thread, we make a quick judgement call when we can, then move on.

I didn't move the offending thread in question here, but if I see a thread about truck parts, i'm moving it to the truck section.

Apologies for not pleasing everyone at all times.

How can a question about building a model, posted in "Model Building Questions" be in the wrong place?

I was not asking about a Peterbilt, or a Kenworth(you know, the things that you find at a TRUCK STOP)I was asking about a Suburban!

You moved my question from the right place to the wrong place, and now it will never be seen by the people who might have been able to help!

It was a joke, GEEZE!!

My truck was just totaled (while it was parked) by a drunk driver) and I have been on the phone with two insurance companies, the  last one for an hour. So EXCUSE ME for not missing the joke, and as a side note it was not a "Joke"  it was "sarcasm"

We have a section devoted to trucks, vans, SUVs, industrial and commercial equipment of all sizes. There are separate sub-categories for big rigs and light trucks. If you post something that falls into one of those categories in a place other than the truck section it will probably get moved. There aren't as many sub-categories in the truck section and a lot of general discussions and questions will end up in the Truck Stop. Sometimes we catch them when they are originally posted and sometimes a member will report it to us so that we can look into it and move it if necessary. Sometimes we catch them years later when someone digs up an old thread. We have the same problem (to a lesser extent) with NASCAR and Drag Racing vehicles. They also have their own sections.

We actually encourage folks to report threads and posts that they think are in the wrong place. We do have a few folks who refuse to do this and would rather make comments like the ones we have seen in this thread.

I personally tend to leave small pick-up trucks from the 20's in the car section. Most everything else gets moved into the truck section. The other moderators may view them differently.
