tim boyd Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 (edited) …..that the Policy on this board is that completed Hot Rod Roadster and Closed Cab Pickups are posted on this board not in this section, but instead in the Under Glass: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial section. There are some very cool projects posted in the first couple of pages of that section of the Forum right at the moment....TIM Edited July 9, 2019 by tim boyd
Tom Geiger Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Ya know, I cannot get my arms around this! Same as my objection when people put shiny hot rod pickups in the Light Commercial category at shows!

Richard Bartrop Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Apparently it's very important that cars and trucks don't touch.

It's apparently very difficult and/or highly inconvenient for people to post their pickups in the pickups section. It's also highly inconvenient to look in a different section of the site. Perhaps there should only be one section for the entire site. If every single post goes in one section, then there should be no confusion about where to post. Problem solved.

bobthehobbyguy Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Tags would be a simple solution to the problem. They can be searched across the entire board. There would need to be a thread explain ing. how to use them. Tags are under utilized. They eliminate the need to have categories that are too specific. If they were well used it would be a benefit to have more than four available.
tim boyd Posted July 9, 2019 Author Posted July 9, 2019 Guys.....just so we are clear, with this post/thread I am not "protesting" or expressing any disagreement with how hot rod pickups are categorized on this Forum or by the Moderators. The sole purpose of this post was only to remind anyone who likes hot rod models where the pickup versions of those builds are posted on the Forum......thanks.....TIM

That really ticks me off too. Usually because they have put eight models in the hot rod category and now they want to spead the rest out.

No, they don't look like commercial vehicles to me either.I think different people have different definitions of "commercial". To me, a commercial vehicle is one with company markings. No matter if it's a tractor trailer or a Pinto with a pizza sign on the roof. Your Volare delivery car would be a good example of that.
iamsuperdan Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 That section is not for purely commercial vehicles. Says right in the name of the section. "Under Glass: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial" Your pickups aren't pickups? They must be cars then? They are beautifully done, and definitely not commercial, but they are pickups and as such belong in the pickup section. But what do I know...
bobthehobbyguy Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 The truck section was created because enough people asked for it. It amuses me that people complain its way down on the bottom of the forum however its amazing how so many can find the off topic section with no problem. And if things get changed there will be another group to complain about that change.!!

Dan, I was responding to Tom's remark and asked him if that's what he was referring to. Possibly you did not notice that. No need to be snarky, If I had posted a remark like that to you, I bet you'd give me a demerit point. I know you'r view on the subject, you've told me it before. And as I've told you, I disagree with you. In this modern day and age, many people will buy a pickup, van or suv in place of a car. It has the same use in the household. The governments don't make a distinction between a car and pickup or suv unless it it registered in a company name. You live in what's pretty well the truck capitol of Canada, I don't have to tell you this. You see it every day. When this forum started, there wasn't separate under glass sections for cars and basically, everything else. The heavy truck guys wanted a separate section for themselves and when it happened, everything that was not a car got lumped into it. I agree with a heavy commercial section but I feel the light commercial subjects should be included in just a "commercial" section. Pickups such as I build, vans and suvs not with company markings should be in the section with cars. When I enter a show or contest with one of my pickups, it's in the same section as the cars in almost every show I've ever been to. Anyway, I know nothing's gonna change. BUT, I'm posting the next pickup I finish in the cars "under glass" section.

That was the heavy truck guys and they wanted a separate section for "commercial" trucks Bob. ,,, and I agree with that. They don't want builds like mine in their section, so I've been told more than once.

Wouldn’t ya know that one show challenged my putting the Volare in Light Commercial?! When I read them back their own rules, they hemmed and hawed a bit and said “well we really meant trucks”, wow! The Volare even has NY commercial plates on it!
