Ack! Ack-ack! Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 In 1970 Mack introduced a very attractive stars and stripes paint scheme. Ertl's and later AMT's box artwork of their DM 800 kit always showed this peculiar paint scheme. All issues of the DM 800 had the the same decal sheet including a lot of white stripes in order to make replicating the stars and stripes paint scheme easier. When I built the kit about 20 years ago as one of my very first truck models I used only the decal stars because masking and painting the stripes turned out to be easier than applying the decal stripes
Tesla Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Wow...the stripes came out perfect! Awesome build Thomas.
ZIL 111V Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Very, very, very nice! Tough paint/decal job to complete, perfect indeed! ...Can t beat MPCs original 1971 "stars & strips" DM 800 box art.
Lordmodelbuilder Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Beautiful model! The Macks have always been favorites of mine. Need to get my old mixer put back together.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted July 20, 2019 Posted July 20, 2019 That is an awesome looking build! Great work!!
Plastheniker Posted July 20, 2019 Posted July 20, 2019 Spectacular paint scheme! I never saw one done before.
JerseeJerry55 Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 (edited) Very, very, nice. I had the Mixer kit back in the 1970's. Sadly I never built it. My loss for sure. Edited February 4, 2020 by JerseeJerry55
