Mike Stem Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 I have 3 Richard Petty models & I need to find Tamiya TS36 Fluorescent Red paint for them. Anyone have any idea where I can find it in the US? I found it in Australia, Spain & England but that does me no good here in Virginia.
Plowboy Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 I buy my Tamiya paint from ebay. Just type in what you're after in the search bar and it'll pull up the results.
gman Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 https://www.sunwardhobbies.ca/tamiya-spray-paint-ts36/ ^^ you could order some from north of the border, unless you need more than 2 cans
Rocking Rodney Rat Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 FleaBay is probably your best bet. RIP to local hobby shops..... -RRR

GLMFAA1 Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 https://www.amazon.com/s?k=tamiya+ts-36&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_ufJ-P7i5AIVitlkCh1iCQD1EAMYASAAEgLc5fD_BwE&hvadid=174315517135&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9015449&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1o1&hvqmt=b&hvrand=12030908616647129279&hvtargid=kwd-26706733229&tag=googhydr-20&ref=pd_sl_833pdb9f0y_b The last time I was in a well stocked hobby shop, about an hour away, they had a not regarding Tamiya paints being held up due to labeling in California. greg
935k3 Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 (edited) Tamiya USA website says it is not available. It looks great but is known to have issues with cracking. It cracked on me but didn't show until months after the car was built and I am afraid to use it again. Edited September 21, 2019 by 935k3

Dave Van Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 I used some years ago and it was not up to Tamiiya standards.......gun shy here too.
Mike Stem Posted September 22, 2019 Author Posted September 22, 2019 Thanks for the help everyone! I finally found the Tamiya TS36 Fluorescent Red paint at Ballzanos Hobby Warehouse. So anyone building the Salvinos JR Petty cars, this is the color paint Jim of Salvinos JR said to use along with Tamiya TS10 French blue. Also Salvinos JR are releasing the #28 Hardee's 1984 Monte Carlo this week! Thanks again everyone for the help!
vintagerpm Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 MCW paints also sells the petty colors on-line. They should be available in airbrush or rattle can lacquers. http://mcwautomotivefinishes.com/
sfsjkid Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 I realize its been a while since this topic was created, but wanted to report 2 things. 1) I used the vermillion lacquer from MCW and it is a very close match to the Salvino's decals. One does have to clearcoat it though. Have not used the enamel. https://mcwfinishes.com/shop/ols/search?keywords=vermillion&sortOption=descend_by_match 2) Tamiya TS36 Fluorescent Red is passible but a much darker shade. Still, looks ok on the model. The problem I had was, I painted Tamiya's light blue over this red, and the red bled through. Thin coats after the first dried solved that. However, when I clear coated the decals, the red bled through them ruining everything. This was with Mr Color Super Clear, have used Tamiya's Clear without problems with Salvino's decals before.
Dpate Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 I believe scalefinishes has its own section for salvinos paints.
