aurfalien Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 Hello, So I'm slowly starting to rebuild my kit stash and have decided to focus on my two favorite houses, Ferrari and Porsche with a smattering of Ford, Chevy and Jaguar for good measure So here is what I feel may be accurate; Porsche 959 to Ferrari F40 Porsche Carrera GT to La Ferrari Porsche 918 to Ferrari FXX-K Am I accurate in any of these?
djflyer Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 I might consider the Enzo more of the counterpart to the Carrera GT (closer timeline) How about Porsche 928 v. Ferrari 400, or Porsche 930 Turbo v. Ferrari 365 GT/BB

I'll have to skip the 928 as there seems no modern tooling of a kit out there. Too bad as it was my favorite water cooled front engined Porsche. The 930/365 is doable for sure due to the nice quality of kits available.
djflyer Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 I think the Gunze kit of the 928 is the only one with a complete driveline, but some of the more recent Fujimi kits weren't too bad. No replicas of the 400 that I know of - kinda put that in there without thinking about it. Almost forgot - Porsche Panamera v. Ferrari FF/GTC4 Lusso

A bit simplified but does have a full engine etc. construction and parts count was about what you'd expect from one of the Monogram muscle cars done in the '80s. PS, just found this video. The guy doing the video sounds like he dosen't know much about the car, or models in general but it shows you what's in the kit. Edited October 6, 2019 by Can-Con
Gramps46 Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 Brian, I offer these as visuals to help you decide. Porsche Turbo - Ferrari 365 BB Porsche 959 - Ferrari F40 Porsche Carrera GT - Ferrari Enzo
aurfalien Posted October 6, 2019 Author Posted October 6, 2019 Wow cool, very very nice info. Thanks every one! Hmm, I wonder what would be a contender to the Testarossa, perhaps a Porsche 964 Turbo? And to the LaFerrari, the 991 GT3?

niteowl7710 Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 I'd say the La Ferrari is competitor to the Porsche 918. The FXX-K is a track specific non-street legal car. There eventually was an RSR version of the 918, that's not what the kit represents, and while several of the Weissach package cars sported retro Porsche Le Mans liveries they were all street legal.
Matt Bacon Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 If it's any help, Evo magazine's video comparisions are: 959 and F40 F50 and Carrera GT 918, La Ferrari (and McLaren P1) 928 and 550 Maranello Porsche 997 Carrera S and F430 best, M.
aurfalien Posted October 6, 2019 Author Posted October 6, 2019 (edited) Very very cool, thank you gents! Funny, no lateral equivalent to the FXX-K. Well, that car really is in a class of its own! Too bad the 918RSR is in die cast only. I think a resin trans kit for the Revel 918 would be very doable and relevant. Heck I can even see a Revel kit as well. BTW, while I'm on the topic of potential kits, I sense a new Porsche 935 kit coming on. Edited October 6, 2019 by aurfalien
DukeE Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 F50 was '95. Roughly based on 33SP. No crossover at time. Carrera GT was '05. Direct comparison is the Enzo. 928 was dead years before 550 came out. No real cross competitor for the 550 '97-2001 458 and 997/991 TT '10-'15 Speciale and 991.1 GT3RS '14-'15

The closest Porsche I can think of to the 550 was likely the 996 Turbo
