426 pack Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Today I got the new revell GTX to recreate my 1/1 67 satellite aka the satellite that fell out of orbit. First of here is some info on the car. It is a 1967 satellite that I got last year for a $50 dollar bill. It was a 383 4bb 325hp with a 727 and was a beautiful copper and black two tone and then in the mid 70s it was painted a cool white and green and as far as I know it drag raced locally with a biult up 383. Now it is in very ruff condition and has sat on its side for the past 30 ish years as the previous owner bought it for the motor until I purchased it and removed it from the trees. I will be building it as how it currently sits and possibly make a diorama base that I can set it on to make it look like how I originally found it on its side. This is the most recent picture of it how it currently sits. And finally a picture of the model car. Comments welcome
Deuces Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Looks like the real one has potential.... With a little bit of work..... It'll rub out.... ??
TarheelRick Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Take it down to Fanthom Works in Norfolk, VA. They can rebuild any rust bucket, and it would probably only cost you a couple hundred grand.? Sounds like an interesting project. Looking forward to what you do with it. Really burns my posterior to see such a beautiful machine neglected like that.
espo Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 I guess at this point in time there is no problem storing it outside. Something about this car looks familiar, as if I had seen a picture of this same car. A lot of work to restore the 1:1 but I like the diorama idea.

Shambles Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 I'm way into dioramas, weathering, and wrecked models. Looks like a fun project. Keep us posted.
Trendsetta68 Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Send it to Graveyard Cars ... they'll fix it with ease !!! ???
disconovaman Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 I would get the 1.1 running and driving as is... it would be quite a story for the history of the car... some old vintage pics of the car in its "Hayday" would be cool too, just to see what wheels and tires were used. The model project is gonna be Awesome as well. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished project.
Geno Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Now wouldn't that be a cool episode. Can't wait to see the model project progress as well.?

I am trying to find a 383 and I have the front suspension for it the only problem is that since it has sat for over 30 years and the guy that I got it off of didn’t have the papers for it it will have to go through a vehicle inspection and be re-vin’ed and I don’t know how well it would go if you can climb into the trunk though the rust hole in the side of the car.
Shambles Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Sadly, it's probably too far gone for a reasonable cost restoration or resto-mod. But, if money is no object. go for it! ?
