ismaelg Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Hello, I have always been inspired by modelers like Bob Downie, who has demostrated over and over again that a curbside can be a GREAT looking model. So this was a 3 week quick build focused on the paint scheme. Of course I couldn't leave it as is, so I did a racing inspired interior. The idea was to build a dual purpose car: A street legal driver (emissions inspection, license plate etc) for the week and a track warrior for the weekend. Obviously inspired by the Penske Camaros, I put a modern touch with the mirrors and deck spoiler in raw carbon fiber. Been such a quick build it has plenty of errors. The extinguisher is too big, I have no idea if the roll cage design is correct as I didn't get any reference, etc. etc. but I like how it looks. This is almost the total opposite of the '33 Chrysler Pace Car project. Hope you enjoy. Revell Snap Concept Camaro Scalefinishes paint Perry's resin seat and wheels/tires I hope you like it. Thanks,
ismaelg Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 Here is a look at the interior prior to assembly as it is hard to see once in place... Thanks,
george 53 Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 WoW, Izz, that thing looks like a real KILLER!!! I do so love your showroom, and the Z just looks like it belongs there! Another amazing build!GREAT JOB!!!
Zoom Zoom Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Wow, I love it! Great idea and execution! Fantastico Models like this are the best, when you have a lot of fun and don't spend too much time worrying over details as if you're building a 1:1 car. It's a model, a piece of art...it's whatever you want it to be.
Randy Kern Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Great build there, Ismael. Those Minilites look right at home on the new Camaro. I hope they get put on next year's race cars! Along with the Gulf colors, another favorite paint scheme. Interior details really stand out, too. Very cool!
lizardlust Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Neat blend of Penske and 21st-century cues, Ismael - definitely an eye-grabber!!!
Nick F40 Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Holy ###### this is cool, now this is the kind of Camaro I LIKE! This is my style, my racing series....love it! Hmmm, Martini and Camaro?

ericmaxman Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Just nice amount of CF. Not too much. I like it. Cool rims too.
LOBBS Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Absolutely gorgeous build Izzy!! I always loved those Penske Camaros and you did it justice with your modern take.
Dennis Lacy Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 I can honestly say that I have not yet seen a Concept Camaro (artwork, model, real or otherwise) that I have liked, until now! This is absolutely awesome! What great imagination and the perfect blend of old and new. It really, REALLY works.
miatamadman Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Oh Yeah!!!! Turned out great. Killer paint and stance.
935k3 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 That's beautiful, I have not liked this car much but yours looks great. What color did you use?

stump Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Awesome..... That's an amazing paint job man, glass smooth by the looks of it. Are the decals your own work Izzy, or a custom job from Keith or someone else..? They look great. Thanks for sharing with us mate.
ismaelg Posted October 1, 2008 Author Posted October 1, 2008 Thank you all for your nice comments! Nick: Martini and Camaro? No, you shouldn't drink and drive Clay: No Dale: I used Scalefinishes Sunoco blue and Sunoco yellow. The yellow was used in the stripes, roll cage and wheels. The interior gray was my own mix of hobby enamels white and black. Stump: The yellow stripes are not decals. They were masked and painted. Decals have never been very friendly to me. Here is a link to the progress thread on the workbench section. It has more details on the paint, stripes, masking etc. Click here for the progress thread in the workbench section Thanks!
stump Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 (edited) Stump: The yellow stripes are not decals. They were masked and painted. Decals have never been very friendly to me. Thanks! Cheers Ismael.. Hey, I'm hearing ya.....Decals and me....we just don't mix well..... I'm off to check out your in progress, thanks. Greg Part 2 Great work and tip on the recycling too Izzy....I waste way too much tape.... The way you did the stripes has made this much more special Ismael......sorry for thinking they were decals mate. Great build. Edited October 1, 2008 by stump
Raul_Perez Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Ismael, I really like this one!! Everything about it is right on the money!! Yes, a fire extinguisher that big belongs more in an early British car than it does in a late-model Chevy!! Keep up the GREAT work and thanks for sharing!! Later,
RodneyBad Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Just all balls on Gorgeous. All points on Fit, finish, and design. Awesome Work.. I Love it...............
